Re: Concrete driveway
Dear Ms. Materna:
During my brief inspection of the concrete driveway it appears that the concrete was poured
underneath a portion of the brick veneer that projects approximately 2 inches off the side of the
house into the driveway. It is my opinion that the frost action underneath the driveway pushed
the brick veneer up and subsequently caused it to pull away from the house.
The brick veneer has been installed similarly on both sides of the house, so if you look on the left
side of the house you will notice that the brick projects approximately 2 inches towards the left
property line as is the case on the right side of the house where the brick veneer projects towards
the right property line. The driveway was poured adjacent to the foundation wall and underneath
and touching the brick veneer thus causing the problem when frost caused the ground to expand
and lift the driveway.
