HomeMy WebLinkAboutDRAFT Resolution Building CodeDRAFT Resolution: Energy Efficiency Building Code Whereas, DOE (US Department of Energy) is offering hundreds of millions of dollars in competitive grants under the EECBG (Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant) program, for which the application deadline is December 14, 2009, and the requirements to receive that EECBG competitive funding include: 1) A building energy code (or codes) for residential buildings that meets or exceeds the most recently published International Energy Conservation Code, or achieves equivalent or greater energy savings; and /or 2) A building energy code (or codes) for commercial buildings that meets or exceeds the most recently published ANSI /ASHRAE /IESNA Standard 90. 1, or achieves equivalent or greater energy savings. Whereas, Oshkosh's building code does not currently meet that requirement. Whereas, the City of Oshkosh should be prepared for similar grant opportunities along those lines, in the future. Therefore Be It Resolved, we advise the City Manager to bring the building codes of the City of Oshkosh into compliance with the following minimum requirements: 1) A building energy code (or codes) for residential buildings that meets or exceeds the most recently published International Energy Conservation Code, or achieves equivalent or greater energy savings; and /or 2) A building energy code (or codes) for commercial buildings that meets or exceeds the most recently published ANSI /ASHRAE /IESNA Standard 90. 1, or achieves equivalent or greater energy savings. Be It Further Resolved, we advise the City Manager to apply for the EECBG competitive funds from the DOE, and other energy efficiency funding for buildings.
