Oshkosh, WI 54902 (920) 232 -5300 (920) 232 -5307 FAX Mark Ziemer Director, Senior Services BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE OSHKOSH SENIORS CENTER MEETING MINUTES SEPTEMBER 28, 2009 PRESENT: Claude Benedict, Don Christman, Bob Cornell, Judy Troudt, Tony Anand, Dennis Penney Judy Pierson, Dale Sonnenberg, Ralph Nielsen, Donna Pipkorn, John Hauser, Barb Goldthwaite, Don Wolter STAFF: Mark Ziemer, Director of Senior Services, and Gerry Haverty Office Assistant Jason Hubbard UWO Intern Meeting was called to order by Ralph Nielson at 1 pm. Corrections to minutes Motion made by Dennis to accept 2 nd by Dale. FACILITIES COMMITTEE: No meeting FUND DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE: No meeting GOVERANCE COMMITTEE: Evaluation forms for board members were tabled. To be a member of a board you do not need to have board experience. Becoming a president of a board a person must serve at least one year on a board. Board members should belong to FOSC. FRIENDS: Fall Festival huge success. $7,800 made before bills paid out. Cars were ticketed. Council members in dunk tank, good idea. FOSC lawyer suggested that people who take the trips should pay sales tax on their meals that they receive. FOSC to pay for license so we can reproduce music for the chorus group. Suggested that person who receives items for silent auction check expiration dates so there is no expired food. COMMITTEE ON AGING: Claude reported on several programs that are going to be available to seniors. Article on FOSC started in 1975. There should be a party for their 35 anniversary. Toni Anand and Judy Troudt suggested having an open house for this and a special meeting of the Fund Development was set up for October 12, 2009 at 12 noon to discuss and set for this event. Open house was suggested which would bring people in to see our facilities. DIRECTORS REPORT: Good time had by all at the Fall Family Fun Festival. Dunk tank a huge success. Need more space; cold storage shed should be cleaned out for next year's event. Suggested by Bob to have this be a two day event. Julie Zuleger resigned as our Volunteer Coordinator. Looking for a replacement. DVD's shown on July 4 th parade, and information on the Ombudsman Program. Granny Smith walk run being held October 10, 2009. Need for brochure rack in both buildings. OLD BUSINESS: None NEW BUSINESS: Dennis Penny suggested we set a no smoking on campus policy.
