This is a request for a block party permit for Saturday, Oct. 31 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. We are
having a Fall Family Harvest Party with a petting zoo, pony rides, police car, fire truck, food, etc.
It will be sponsored by the Faith Christian Center; the event is free and open to the entire
community.
We are asking to have the section of street blocked off from the corner of Melvin & Bowen,
west to Bong Court.
We have held this event for the past 6 years; I always talk to the neighbors of our church ahead
of time to let them know about our event, and to make sure that they are fine about
everything.
Thank you so much for your consideration.

Dear Mr. Rohloff,
I would like to make a formal request, on the behalf of the Downtown Oshkosh Business
Improvement District (BID) Marketing Consortium, to close the 400 block of North Main
Street for the Downtown Halloween Trick or Treat Event from 3 :30 - 7:30 PM. The finale
event will be held on Thursday, October 29, 2009 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. However, a formal
request has been made to the parks department for the use of Opera House Square during the
week of Monday Oct 26 to Friday Oct 30 to be decorated for increased community
participation. Due to proximity and safety concerns we would like to formally request the
closure of Market St from High Avenue to Algoma Boulevard the day of the finale event,
Thursday Oct 29 between the hours of 2:00 PM - 8:00 PM.
The Marketing Consortium has already secured Oshkosh Police Auxiliary officers to work the
area in conjunction with this event from 4 :00 - 7:00 p.m.
This event has become a wonderful tradition and we expect it to grow again this year. Please
refer any questions or concerns that you have to me at (920) 303 -2265 ext. 11. I look forward
to working with you.
Sincerely,
Maureen Lasky

Dear Oshkosh City Common Council,
I am writing to request the closure of a block of West Irving Avenue (between Elmwood Avenue and
Cherry Street) from 4:30 -6pm on Wednesday, October 21, 2009. We will be hosting our annual Love
Your Body Day event that evening with various activities meant to promote positive self -image for girls
and women of all ages. Besides films, speakers, and fitness activities, we would also like to feature the
local women's roller derby team. We would like to have the team members share how this team has
impacted their individual well -being as well as demonstrate some of their performance abilities. The
closure of the block would allow them .ample room for demonstration purposes, and also let us continue
to use our indoor space to provide other activities that focus on other services.
Last year we had over 100 people attending this event, including girls from our local Boys and Girls
Club, the larger student and staff population, and mothers and grandmothers of students and community
members. The mission of the Women's Center is to build the personal, academic and professional
capacity of women by providing opportunities to connect, serve and lead. We endeavor to do this by
helping`women and men of all walks of life to learn to work, play, and live together in ways based on
mutual respect by;
o providing resources and education for the UW -O community;
o creating a welcoming place for women to connect;
o promoting' an environment that values diversity; 'arid
o promoting engagement between students, faculty and the community in the context of women's
issues and needs.
Thank you, in advance, for any consideration you are willing to give this request. Your assistance in
helping to provide ample space for our annual program (which draws diverse girls, women and men from
the campus and larger community alike) would be much appreciated. If you have any other questions or
comments, please feel free to contact me at your convenience.
Sincerely,
Jennifer Castillo J

Dear Council Members:
We are shooting a film for a class at the University of Wisconsin- Oshkosh and
would like to utilize a portion of Rahr Avenue where it meets Lane Street on
Sunday, October 18, 2009, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
We have our own traffic cones and traffic vests, so we will not be needing the
assistance of the Street Department or Police Department. We will not block
traffic at any time.
Thank you for your assistance in this matter.
Very truly yours,
ktle'e 'r--
