Gohde, Assistant Director of Public Works DATE: October 8, 2009 RE: Change Order #1 for Public Works Contract No. 09 -02; Sawyer Creek Sanitary Sewer Interceptor and Water Main (- $2,599.10) BACKGROUND Change Order #1 for Contract 09 -02 is scheduled for consideration by the Common Council at the October 14, 2009 meeting. The contract was originally awarded to Carl Bowers & Sons Construction Co. Inc. in January of 2009. This change order is for various changes to paving, sanitary sewer and water main items and finalizes the contract to the actual quantities installed. The changes are a result of additional work needed or not needed to complete the project due to existing conditions underground. ANALYSIS Following is a summary of the significant additional work items performed for each section of the CIP. - Paving section includes adjustments to final quantities. - Sanitary Sewer included additional fittings and lateral length to serve the new development and adjustment to actual quantities used. Lateral work will be assessed to developer. -Water Main included adjustments to actual quantities used. FISCAL IMPACT The paving (for sanitary sewer trench restoration) and water main sections decreased by the following amounts respectively; $740.09 (credit to sanitary sewer) and $5,509.50. The sanitary sewer construction section increased by $3,651.30. The CIP budgeted amount for this contract is $1,325,000. The new contract total is $649,783.40. Adequate funds are available in the Capital Improvement Budget in the utility sections. RECOMMENDATIONS I recommend approval of the Change Order #1 to Contact No. 09 -02 in the amount of - $2,599.10 to Carl Bowers & Sons Construction Co. Inc. Res ectfully Submitted, / Steven M.
