Also, I am a head baseball coach with the Oshkosh Youth Baseball league and spend several days a week practicing and in ballgames in the various parks working with my team. Reason for wanting to serve: In the 15 years that I have lived in the city, I believe the city's parks are one of its greatest assets as they provide lifetime recreation for a wide range of citizens and activities. My family and I, ( wife Lisa, a 5 yr old daughter and 8 yr old son) spend many days in the parks in all seasons and I would like to have some input regarding the many issues that affect the parks in this community. Overall, I think the parks system in our community is well maintained and offers leisure activities for all ages, but with the city's growth and development projects, I think it is important that the parks system not be forgotten as one of the most enjoyable and economical activities for all families. Would you be good enough to have the enclosed c.v. attached to my application? I applied on line and was unable, given the city's set up, to attach the document at that time. I am very keen to serve on the Board of Appeals, and I hope that the Mayor will afford me that opportunity. Thank you so much for the outstanding job you are doing as City Manager. The popular monthly Art Walks, partnership of businesses in the Harry Potter book release last fall, plans for expansion of the Public Museum, and the involvement of the Grand Opera House in the Shakespeare on the Fox project all suggest a citizenry engaged in the arts and drama and their historical context. Such a citizenry deserves good leadership which my diverse experiences make me well qualified to help offer. Serving on public boards is a way to contribute meaningfully in one's community while making friends with people from diverse areas of the city. 1
