RE: Parks Department Utility Tractor
BACKGROUND
The Parks Department is in need of replacing their 1981 Kubota utility tractor. The mowing deck
of this tractor requires regular repairs and it is hard to secure replacement parts. A new utility
tractor will be more versatile for Park operations and require less maintenance.
ANALYSTS
Working in conjunction with the Street Division, Purchasing reviewed and prepared proposals
seeking vendors for this tractor replacement. Bid requests were sent to vendors who have
received invitations to bids in previous years. In addition the bids were advertised in the local
paper and posted online on NovusVendor. Bids were received on July 23, 2009. The bid
tabulation is attached. Working with the Street Division, Purchasing reviewed the bids and
concluded the low bid from Riesterer & Schnell, Inc. met the bid specifications.
FISCAL EWPACT
This tractor will have a fiscal impact of $39,630.57 (net bid with trade + add -ons). This item was
budgeted in the 2009 CIP major equipment replacement at $40,000. Funding for this item would
be charged to the Parks Department CIP account: 323 - 0610 - 7204 - 06906.
RECOMMENDATION
Purchasing recommends
$39,630.57.
