FOR ROOF REPAIRS FOR RIVERSIDE CEMETERY MAINTENANCE SHOP ($16,950.00) INITIATED BY: PURCHASING DIVISION WHEREAS, the City of Oshkosh has heretofore advertised for bids for roof repairs for Riverside Cemetery Maintenance Shop; and WHEREAS, upon the opening and tabulation of bids, it appears that the following is the most advantageous bid: E D CHASE CO. INC. 5001 Green Valley Road Oshkosh, WI 54904 Total bid: $16,950.00 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of Oshkosh that the said bid is hereby accepted and the proper City officials are hereby authorized and directed to enter into an appropriate agreement for the purpose of same, all according to plans, specifications, and bid on file. Box 1130 Oshkosh, Wisconsin 54903 -1130 City of Oshkosh — OfHKOIH TO: Honorable Mayor and Members of the Common Council FROM: Jon Urben, General Services Director DATE: August 12, 2009 RE: Riverside Cemetery Maintenance Shop Roof Repairs BACKGROUND The Riverside Cemetery maintenance building was constructed circa 1921 and currently consists of an asphalt overlay surface that has been compromised due to age and numerous spot repairs over the years. The asphalt coating is cracking and coming detached at its union with the parapet wall and flashing. The roof has been leaking for several years and is recommended for replacement as soon as possible due to potential structural damage occurring over time. ANALYSIS Working in conjunction with the Parks Division, Purchasing reviewed and prepared proposals seeking vendors to complete these repairs. Bid requests were sent to roof vendors who have received invitations to bids in previous years. In addition the bids were advertised in the local paper and posted online on NovusVendor. Bids were received on July 21, 2009. The bid tabulation is attached. Working with the Parks Department, Purchasing reviewed the bids and concluded the low bid received from E D Chase Company, Inc. met the specifications of this proj ect. FISCAL IMPACT This project will have a fiscal impact of $16,950. This item was budgeted under the 2009 CIP Parks Improvements at $25,000. Funding for this item would be charged to the Parks Improvements CIP account: 325- 0610 - 7204 - 07902. RECOMMENDATION Purchasing recommends the Common Council award the bid to E D Chase Company, Inc. for $16,950.
