RE: Riverside Cemetery Maintenance Shop Roof Repairs
BACKGROUND
The Riverside Cemetery maintenance building was constructed circa 1921 and currently consists
of an asphalt overlay surface that has been compromised due to age and numerous spot repairs
over the years. The asphalt coating is cracking and coming detached at its union with the parapet
wall and flashing. The roof has been leaking for several years and is recommended for
replacement as soon as possible due to potential structural damage occurring over time.
ANALYSIS
Working in conjunction with the Parks Division, Purchasing reviewed and prepared proposals
seeking vendors to complete these repairs. Bid requests were sent to roof vendors who have
received invitations to bids in previous years. In addition the bids were advertised in the local
paper and posted online on NovusVendor. Bids were received on July 21, 2009. The bid
tabulation is attached. Working with the Parks Department, Purchasing reviewed the bids and
concluded the low bid received from E D Chase Company, Inc. met the specifications of this
proj ect.
FISCAL IMPACT
This project will have a fiscal impact of $16,950. This item was budgeted under the 2009 CIP
Parks Improvements at $25,000. Funding for this item would be charged to the Parks
Improvements CIP account: 325- 0610 - 7204 - 07902.
RECOMMENDATION
Purchasing recommends the Common Council award the bid to E D Chase Company, Inc. for
$16,950.
