RE: Sanitation Compact Pickup Truck
BACKGROUND
The Sanitation Division would like to replace their 1992 GMC Sonoma pickup truck. This truck
has 81,000 miles and has become less reliable and requires costly regular maintenance. A new
compact pickup truck will be more fuel efficient and require less maintenance.
ANALYSIS
Working in conjunction with the Street Division, Purchasing reviewed and prepared proposals
seeking vendors for this truck replacement Bid requests were sent to vendors who have received
invitations to bids in previous years. In addition the bids were advertised in the local paper and
posted online on NovusVendor. Bids were received on July 22, 2009. The bid tabulation is
attached. Working with the Street Division, Purchasing reviewed the bids and concluded the low
bid from Bob Fish Pontiac Buick GMC met the bid specifications.
FISCAL EMPACT
This truck will have a fiscal impact of $19,842 (net truck bid with trade + add -ons). This item
was budgeted in the 2009 CIP major equipment replacement at $20,000. Funding for this item
would be charged to the Street Division CIP account: 323 -0470- 7204 - 06918.
RECOMMENDATION
Purchasing recommends the Common Council award the bid to Bob Fish Pontiac Buick GMC for
$19,842.
Respectfully Submitted,
Jon Urben
