RE: Street Division V -Box Salt Spreader
BACKGROUND
The Street Division would like to purchase a V -Box Salt Spreader to mount onto an existing truck
to expand their snow plowing/salting capabilities. This new spreader is expected to last 20 -25
years and when the existing truck it is mounted on needs to be replaced, the spreader can be re-
mounted onto another truck.
ANALYSIS
Working in conjunction with the Streets Division, Purchasing reviewed and prepared proposals
seeking vendors for this V -Box Salt Spreader. Bid requests were sent to vendors who have
received invitations to bids in previous years. In addition the bids were advertised in the local
paper and posted online on NovusVendor. Bids were received on July 23, 2009. The bid
tabulation is attached.. Working with the Streets Division, Purchasing reviewed the bids and
concluded the low bid received from Monroe Truck Equipment met the specifications of this V-
Box Salt Spreader.
FISCAL IMPACT
This spreader will have a fiscal impact of $24,546. This item was budgeted in the 2009 CIP
Major-Equipment Replacement at $35,000. Funding for this item would be charged to the Streets
CIP account: 323 - 0430 - 7204 - 06913.
RECOMMENDATION
Purchasing recommends the Common Council award the bid to Monroe Truck Equipment for
$24,546.
