Box 1130 Oshkosh, 54903-1130 City of Oshkosh QIHKCYH TO: Honorable Mayor and Members of the Common Council FROM: Jon. Urben, General Services Director DATE: August 12, 2009 RE: Parks Department Utility Step Van BACKGROUND The Parks Department would like to replace their 1985 Chevy van used for park maintenance and operations. The current van has approximately 75,000 miles and costs more money each year to keep it operational. In addition, replacement parts for the utility elements of the van are no longer available as the manufacturer is no longer in business. A new utility step van would provide Parks staff with more storage, carrying capacity and work areas for field operations. ANALYSIS Working in conjunction with the Street Division, Purchasing reviewed and prepared proposals seeking vendors for this van replacement. Bid requests were sent to vendors who have received invitations to bids in previous years. In addition the bids were advertised in the local paper and posted online on NovusVendor. Bids were received on July 22, 2009. The bid tabulation is attached. Working with the Street Division, Purchasing reviewed the sole bid received and concluded the bid from L & S Truck Center met the bid specifications. FISCAL EUPACT This van will have a fiscal impact of $43,609 (net van bid with trade + add -ons). This item was budgeted in the 2009 CIP major equipment replacement at $65,000. Funding for this item would be charged to CIP account: 323 - 0610 -7204- 06905. .RECOMMENDATION Purchasing recommends the Common Council award the bid to L & S Truck Center for $43,609.
