HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES CITY OF OSHKOSH LANDMARKS COMMISSION MINUTES June 10, 2009 COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Paul Arnold, Polly Briley, Todd Clark, Shirley Mattox, Arlene Schmuhl, Burk Tower AD HOC MEMBERS PRESENT: none EXCUSED: none STAFF: Susan Kepplinger OTHERS PRESENT: none CALL TO ORDER Chair Todd Clark called the meeting to order and a quorum was declared present. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Arlene Schmuhl moved approval of the May minutes. Paul Arnold seconded the motion which passed unanimously. ACANTHUS AWARDS The Award presentations by Todd Clark and Shirley Mattox went well. GRAND OPERA HOUSE UPDATE Todd Clark shared the following information which had been emailed to him by Jon Urben; a plaster conservator is investigating the possible presence of the angels originally painted on the ceiling; the plan is still to fix failing trusses from below and it appears the ceiling is on it’s way out; the work is going out to bid soon; the City is waiting to see if funding for repair of the Grand that had been put in the State Budget are in the approved budget. PUBLIC ENEMIES EVENT Staff outlined the activities that had been planned around the June 30 early release of the film in Oshkosh. AREA REPORTS Arlene Schmuhl reported that an intern with the County Parks Department will be working on a National Register nomination for the Lighthouse. ANNUAL REPORT Todd Clark will forward the finished draft to Arlene for formatting. MEMBERSHIP STATUS Staff reported that Tina Haffeman had been appointed to the Commission. Polly Briley announced that she had to resign as she is moving out of the City. There was some discussion regarding possible candidates for the Commission. ADJOURNMENT Due to pending lack of quorum, Paul Arnold moved the meeting be adjourned. Burk Tower seconded the motion which passed unanimously.
