HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutesOSHKOSH COMMITTEE ON AGING MINUTES MAY 6, 2009 Present: Corky Abraham, Kimberly Bauer, Peggy Bellin, Claude Benedict, Jesse Fillmore, Ann Jungwirth, Ruth McGinley, Joan Rogers, Harold Singstock, Glenn Steinbrecher, Donna Pipcorn FOSC Dr. Jean Caudle excused. Staff: Mark Ziemer, Director of Senior Services, Gerry Haverty Office Assistant Meeting was called to order by Chairman Corky Abraham at 8:OOam Minutes were approved after corrections were stated. Directors Report: In the process of completing Seniors Center master plan. Need to meet with all staff to identify what our plans and needs are now and in the and in the future .This is a 10 year plan and right after its completion we will begin with goals and objectives for the next 1 and 2 years to work towards our vision. Met with city nurse and they state they are more for children immunizations not with the elderly. County has three nurses that just deal with the elderly. Chips, three county plans to address the concerns of the elderly. We need a business plan and need someone to assist the layout. Discussion was done on recycling batteries, shoes etc. Correspondence: None Old Business: The chairman handed over the meeting to Mark. Mark passed out Biographies on Judy Pierson and Dale Sonnenberg as new members of the OSC Board. Claude made a motion to accept seconded by Jesse, carried unanimously Mark they brought up nominations to officers on the committee. Mark announced three times open to the floor for nominations. Corky Abraham stated he would run for president for one more year. Vice- President Harold Sing stock, Secretary Peggy Bellin. Anne made a motion to accept the nominations Clause second. Vote was unanimous for the new officers of COA. New Business: Jesse bought in a fame the thought would be a nice option for the awards. We should send letters to persons who were nominated but did not get the award. Kimberly Bauer would like to come up with a design for inside the frames. Ruth made a motion that we use the frames and Ann second the motion carried unanimously. Possible other people for the community to be part of the committee: veterans, United Way, Church, possible discharge nurse from any hospital, or Advocap. Living in the 2000's Conference, has a steering committee of 15 or more persons. Kim, Peggy, Mark and Corky to oversee the committee. Conference to be held at the convention center. Awards for the Lifetime Award Arlene Sitter, Oranda Bangsberg Award Mary Schulker, Leadership Award Steve Sagmeister.
