I was a candidate in the 2009 Oshkosh City Council race. Because of running for this position, I learned about our city and was required to answer questions in public about the direction of Oshkosh, and I also listened to the input from the citizens on these matters. Because of that I was in an excellent position to find a common ground between citizen/community wants and needs. I still have a lot of contact with the public, and I believe that gives me a great opportunity to get a feel for what the people are expecting and looking for from Oshkosh. Please write a concise statement which describes why you wish to serve on the In running for the common council I knew that I wanted to do whatever I could to help my city. Even 5/12/2009 City of Oshkosh Board/Commission Background Questionnaire Page 2 of 2 above Board /Commission. though I was not elected, I can still accomplish this goal by serving on this.commission. I want to serve because I feel that I can bring new and fresh ideas to the table, and I am flexible enough to understand that if even a small part of an idea is used, I've helped the City of Oshkosh. Also, with the upper level managerial experience I've had I'm used to thinking outside of the box. I understand the importance of planning for both the long and short term, as often times one decision can have widely varying results.. depending on the time frame. I believe that my perspectives will do nothing but help our city. 5/12/2009 City of Oshkosh Board/Commission Background Questionnaire Page 1 of 1 Challis, Jackie .
