( OSHKOSH YACHT CLUB SINCE 1869 P.O. Box 874, Oshkosh WI 54903 -0874 November 4,2008 Mr. Mark Rohloff, City Manager P O Box 1130 Oshkosh WI 54903 -1130 Dear Mr. Rohloff : The Oshkosh Yacht Club will be hosting three regattas in Oshkosh in 2009. The first is our fourth annual Xtreme "X" Boat Invite Regatta for youth sailors up to age 16 on Monday, July 13 and Tuesday, July 14, 2008. Last year's Xtreme Regatta drew 60 participants and their families from all over Wisconsin. The second regatta the Oshkosh Yacht Club is hosting in the City is the 2009 "A" Class National Regatta from Thursday, June 25, 2009 through Sunday, June 28, 2009. There will be approximately 30 "A" class boats competing and 30 power boats for judging, safety and spectators. We expect up to 250 people here in Oshkosh for the event. The third regatta the Oshkosh Yacht Club is very excited to bring to the City is the 2009 National "E" Scow Championship from Thursday, September 9, 2009 through Sunday, September 13 This Regatta should draw over 50 `B" class boats from all over the country, and approximately 30 power boats for judging, safety and spectators. This event should bring an additional 250 people or more into Oshkosh this fall. The Oshkosh Yacht Club was chosen to host the "A" National and "E" National Championship Regattas because of the tradition that surrounds the city and scow sailing. The OYC was founded in 1869 and is one of the founding clubs of the Inland Lakes Yachting Association. For all three Regattas the boats will be housed at Miller's Bay and will be raced on Lake Winnebago directly east of Menominee Park. We have requested the following items from the Parks Department: trailer and boat parking in the field north of the parking lot, tent placement with electricity, chairs and tables on the lawn south of the motor boat launches, and reserved docks along the south end of the bay. We plan to moor the t/--- City of Oshkosh November 4, 2008 Page 2 competing boats as well as power boats in and along the south end of the bay through out the Regattas. We have been working with Tom Stephany in the Parks Office to address the details and ensure each event's success. We request that the city approve our plan for the Xtreme Invite Regatta, the "A" National and the "E" National Championship Regattas. These events will bring many to our city to sail or spectate. We will be able to showcase our most valuable asset; the water. There will be a great deal of media coverage from the start to the finish for all events. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to call. My phone number is 426 -2645. Thank you. Sinc ely, Amy J. Re: Request of use of Menominee Park Miller's Bay area, on Saturday, May 2, 2009 Dear Mr. Rohloff, With your permission, the Volunteer Center of East Central WI — Oshkosh would like to use Menominee Park, Miller's Bay area, on Saturday, May 2,2009 for our fundraiser. The event is from 8:00 am to Noon. We would be arriving around 6am for set -up and the area should be cleaned up by approximately Noon. We would like to rent the Kiwanis Shelter and start the race in that area going along the path not quite to the point. Now more than ever our communities need to collaborate on fundraising events. The Human Race is a unique opportunity for individuals, families, and businesses to 'come together to raise money for area non- profit organizations. Participants collect pledges toward a non - competitive walk/ran. Nonprofit agencies, schools, school groups, churches, and service clubs are all encouraged to participate in this great event. The Volunteer Center staff and board coordinate the tasks to put on this event. We order the pledge sheets, t- shirts, and food. We do the set -up and clean-up. Participating agencies and groups are asked to join us by walking and raising money for their own organization. Last year we had 15 participating agencies and approximately 200 people. This year we are hoping to expand this event by having at least 20 participating agencies and approximately 250 people. The mission of the Volunteer Center of East Central WI is to develop, coordinate, and promote volunteerism to address community needs in East Central Wisconsin. We are a 501(3)c non - profit organization. Our main office is located in Appleton and the office in Oshkosh opened in May of 2004. Sincerely Stan line Rotary Club of Oshkosh - Morning Secretary February 27, 2009 City Council City Hall P.O. Box 1130 Oshkosh, WI 54903 Dear City Council, My name is Amy Rolph and I'm your local representative from the Community Blood Center. The Community Blood Center is your local sole blood provider and we have been providing 100% of the blood products used at Mercy Medical Center since September of 1995 and at Aurora Medical Center since July of 2003. We also provide the blood products used in hospitals surrounding your community such as Berlin Memorial Hospital, Ripon Medical Center, and Theda Clark Medical Center in Neenah. The last three years, The Community Blood Center hosted a special event blood drive in Opera House Square called "Operation Donation ". In 2008, we recruited 98 blood donors from area businesses as well as from community organizations to come down to the square and some lives right here in our community. Because this event was overwhelmingly successful, we are looking to host the 0 Annual event on June 18. We would like to use the Opera House Square on June 18 from 6 a.m. - 7 p.m. (the blood drive will run from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. but we will need set -up and take down time). We are hoping that you will allow us to park our bloodmobiles on Market Street alongside the square, as well as to use the park area for our registration set -up and reception area for donors. Please contact meat (920) 560- 6653.with any questions or concerns regarding this request. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
