HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTESCITY OF OSHKOSH LANDMARKS COMMISSION MINUTES February 11, 2009 COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Polly Briley, Harold Buchholz, Grady Bullington, Todd Clark, Shirley Mattox, Arlene Schmuhl AD HOC MEMBERS PRESENT: None EXCUSED: Paul Arnold, Burk Tower STAFF: Susan Kepplinger OTHERS PRESENT: Trent Margrif, Andrew Desch CALL TO ORDER Chair Todd Clark called the meeting to order and a quorum was declared present. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Harold Buchholz moved approval of the January minutes as submitted. Burk Tower seconded the motion which passed unanimously. WEB SITE REVIEW Commissioners began the process of reviewing the content of the Commission web page and making suggestions for changes, corrections and improvements with the assistance of an intern from the Community Development Office. 2009 GOAL SETTING Commissioners previously agreed on the following goals; • Update and redesign web page • Forward six properties to Common Council for local landmark designation (two groups of three) • Enhance Acanthus Award program • Develop one public informational exhibit • Submit budget request Polly Briley moved approval of these goals for 2009. Arlene Schmuhl seconded the motion which passed unanimously. ACANTHUS AWARDS Several properties were nominated for review at the March meeting; First Congregational Church; carriage house at 324 Fulton; The Waters and St. Vincent Church. Members will get more information about the projects and report in March as follows; Polly Briley -First Congregational Church and Fulton carriage house; Shirley Mattox, St. Vincent Church windows and Harold Buchholz, the Wall house. LOCAL LANDMARK PROSPECTS Several William Waters designed buildings were identified for possible landmarking. E NEWSLETTER Arlene Schmuhl distributed two new editions.
