E & E Board Activities to Date
• Adoption of International Council for Local Environmental
Initiatives ( ICLEI) Mayors Climate Protection Agreement
• Became member of ICLEI
• Researched, organized information, worked with City staff
to develop web page on City web site
• Staffing changes - now getting staff support from
Community Development Department & UW Extension
• Several members participated in Natural Step study group
facilitated by UW Extension staff
• Recruited interns to complete municipal greenhouse gas
inventory to determine City's carbon footprint & assist in
process of developing Sustainability Plan
• Completed goal setting process for 2008 activities,
established working groups
• Drafted ordinance change per Council request
Goal 2
Identify strategies to recommend to Council
regarding the best ways Oshkosh can reduce
greenhouse gas emissions in City buildings,
functions
• Complete ICLEI milestone #1 - measuring greenhouse
gas emissions related to municipal functions using
interns
• Complete ICLEI milestone #1 - measuring community
greenhouse gas emissions using interns
• Receive regular updates on,progress from interns
• Complete ICLEI milestone #2 - set targets

Energy & Environment Advisory Board
was reestablished in late 2007, began
meeting January 2008
Goal 1
Enhance communication with general public
regarding current & future sustainability efforts,
sustainability concepts & behavioral changes
people can make at home & work
• Develop website (complete)
• Launch by March 10, 2009, track for usage
• Maintain Website, keep information current, links
active
Goal 3
Launch community sustainability planning process
to raise awareness, identify steps the City &
community can take to work toward sustainability
• Appoint E & E members to Sustainability Plan Steering
Committee (complete)
• Have regular status updates to E & E Board
• Forward ordinance revision to Council for action April
2009

Goal 4
Promote sustainable public transportation options
in addition to using bikes, shares, carpools, solar
power, biodiesel buses, etc.
• Coordinate with Transportation Advisory Board
• Work with UWO Transportation & Sustainability
Council on campus initiatives, including expanded OTS
hours /days
• Review draft Bicycle /Pedestrian plan & prepare formal
input
Goal 6
Increase communication between & among
appropriate City committees, departments, staff &
the E & E Board
• Contact Chairs of other Boards, Commissions, offer
The Natural Step orientation, collaborate on
sustainability initiatives
• Arrange to have staff from city departments meet with
E & E Board, discuss how E & E Board can work with
staff on sustainability initiatives
Goal 5
Protect, conserve & sustain local water resources,
support recreational use of our water
• Recommend changes to community ordinances or
practices related to water resources as needed
