Box 1130 Oshkosh, Wisconsin 549903 -1130 City of Oshkosh 3 -1130 OfHKO-f H TO: Honorable Mayor and Members of the Common Council FROM: Jon G. Urben, Director of General Services DATE: January 19, 2009 RE: Rotary Snow Blower Bid BACKGROUND The Street Division has noted that their 1983 loader- mounted rotary snow blower needs to be replaced as it requires much labor and maintenance to keep it operational. The heavy snow and ice of the last several winters have forced additional repairs to this snow blower for extended periods, hampering the snow removal process. ANALYSIS Working in conjunction with the Street Division, Purchasing reviewed and prepared proposals seeking vendors for this rotary snow blower. Bid requests were sent to four rotary snow blower manufacturers. Bids were received on January 15, 2009. The bid tabulation is attached. FISCAL IMPACT Replacement of the rotary snow blower will have a fiscal impact of $128,770. This item was budgeted in the 2009 CIP equipment replacement at $130,000. RECOMMENDATION Working with the Street Division, Purchasing reviewed the sole bid received and is recommending the City Council award the rotary snow blower bid to Bruce Municipal Equipment, Inc. for $128,770. The Street Division is also supportive of this recommendation as Bruce Municipal's bid is for a Snogo model that is compatible with their current loader- mounted systems. The Snogo snow blower will move approximately 1,500 -1,800 tons of snow per hour. Respectf lly ubmitted, 7 Jon G.
