WHEREAS, the City of Oshkosh has heretofore advertised forbids for chemicals for
the Water Filtration Plant and the Wastewater Treatment Plant for 2009; and
WHEREAS, upon the opening and tabulation of bids, it appears that the following

authorized and directed to enter into an appropriate agreement for the purpose of same, all
according to plans, specifications, and bid on file. Money for this purpose is hereby
appropriated from:

Re: Water/Wastewater Chemical Bids
BACKGROUND
This is the annual bid for operation treatment chemicals for the year 2009. Chemicals are
for Water Filtration and Wastewater Treatment Plants.
ANALYSIS
Bids were reviewed with Steve Brand Superintendent of Utilities and Purchasing. The
following bids as indicated are recommended for council award. Chlorine: Hydrite
Chemical $565.00 tn. Aluminum Sulfate: General Chemical $445.87 tn. Ferrous
Chloride: .725 lb. Kemira Companies Inc. Liquid Odor Control: $2.288 gl. Siemens
Water Tech. Corp. Liquid Polymer: Ashland Specialty Chemicals .471b and Dry
Polymer: Ashland Specialty $1.75 lb. Note: the quanity difference of material on the
polymer bid for Wastewater is the result of how many pounds it takes to treat wastewater
for a year with each vendors product.
FISCAL IMPACT
Funding for the chemicals will be from their respective utility accounts.
RECOMMENDATION
Council to award chemical bids as indicated in the analysis section.
