101.65(1 r) of the Wisconsin Statutes requires municipalities that enforce the Uniform Dwelling Code to provide an owner who applies for a
building permit with a statement advising the owner that:
If the owner hires a contractor to perform work under the building permit and the contractor is not bonded or insured as required under
s. 101.654 (2) (a), the following consequences might occur:
(a) The Owner may be held liable for any bodily injury to or death of others or for any damage to the property of others that arises out of
the work performed under the building permit or that is caused by any negligence by the contractor that occurs in connection with the
work performed under the building permit.
(b) The Owner may not be able to collect from the contractor damages for any loss sustained by the owner because of a violation by the
contractor of the one and two family dwelling code or an ordinance enacted under sub. (1) (a), because of any bodily injury to or
death of others or damage to the property of others that arise out of the work performed under the building permit or because of any
bodily injury to or death of others of damage to the property of others that is caused by any negligence by the contractor that occurs
in connection with the work performed under the building permit.
In the performance of this work I agree to perform all work pursuant to rules governing the described construction.
While the City of Oshkosh has no authority to enforce easement restrictions of which it is not a party, if you perform the work
described in this permit application within an easement, the City strongly urges the permit applicant to contact the easement
holder(s) and to secure any necessary approvals before starting such activity.

continue if the inspection is not performed within two business days from the time the project is ready.

Dear Mr. & Mrs. Schmidt:
On October 8, 2008 the Board of Appeals approved a variance to permit an unscreened accessory off-
streetparking space with a 5" side yard (east) setback with the following conditions:
1. The off-street parking area shall be screened by a solid fence at least S' tall along the
east property line.
2. A trench drain or drainage swale must be installed along the eastern edge of the off-
streetparking area in order to direct storm water runoff toward the front of the
subject property and away from the abutting property to the east (40 Sennholz Court)
OR gutters must be installed on the house/garage addition with collapsible
downspouts directing stormwater to the roadside ditch.
The decision of the Board was filed in the Planning Services Division Office of the Department of
Community Development on October 9, 2008. Per Section 30-6(C)(3) and (4) of the City of Oshkosh
Zoning Ordinance, your variance will expire on Apri19, 2009 unless you have started construction
for the activity allowed by the variance. If you fail to begin construction by this date, you must
reapply for a variance if you intend to go ahead with the activity allowed by the variance.
Please be advised that any person or persons aggrieved by any decision of the Board of Appeals may
commence action in Circuit Court within thirty (30) days after the filing of the decision. Permits may
be issued on approval of the Board, but you should be aware that further action could take place until
as much as 30 days after the date of the decision.
Building permits may be applied for from the Inspection Services Division in Room 205 at the
Oshkosh City Hall between 7:30 - 8:30 AM and 12:30 - 1:30 PM, Monday thru Friday, or call (920)
236-5050 for an appointment. Please bring all required building plans and information necessary for
review when obtaining your building permit.
