COMMON COUNCIL MEETING
August 26, 2008

A. CITY MANAGER'S REPORT
1. BILLS
It is recommended that the bills, as audited and presented by the Director of Finance, be
approved for payment.
2. TAKE BACK THE NIGHT
Request permission to grant approval to the Take Back the Night Committee to utilize city
streets and facilities on Wednesday, October 1, 2008, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m, for their 18tH
Annual Take Back the Night event, in accordance with the attached letter of request.
3. POW/MIA CEREMONY & ORANGE BLOSSOM DRIVE
Request permission to grant approval to the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 437 to
utilize the northeast corner of South Park for their annual POW/MIA Ceremony on Sunday,
September 21, 2008, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., and to conduct their Orange Blossom Drive
on Friday and Saturday, October 17 and 18, 2008, in accordance with the attached letter of
request.
4. HUNGER WALK
Request permission to grant approval to 99.5 the Wolf to utilize Menominee Park and facilities
on Saturday, September 13, 2008, from 8:30 a. m. to 3:00 p.m., for their Hunger Walk, in
accordance with the attached letter of request.
5. BLOCK PARTY
Request permission to grant approval to the residents of Wheatfield Way to close Wheatfield
Way, between Ruschfield Drive and Timothy Trail, on Sunday, August 31, 2008, from 3:00
p.m. to 9:00 p.m., for their neighborhood block party, in accordance with their recently
submitted Block Party Request Form.
6. BLOCK PARTY
Request permission to grant approval to the residents of Sharratt Drive to close Sharratt Drive,
between Summerview Drive and Farmstead Lane, on Saturday, September 13, 2008, from 1:30
p.m. to 10:00 p.m., for their neighborhood block party, in accordance with their recently
submitted Block Party Request Form.
7. STRAIGHT JACKET ESCAPE
Request permission to grant approval to Escape Artist Michael Schroeder to utilize the parking
lot behind the Time Theater on Saturday, September 6, 2008, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., for a
straight jacket escape attempt to raise money for the Time Theater Renovation Project, in
accordance with the attached letter of request.
8. BLOCK PARTY
Request permission to grant approval to the residents of Arcadia Avenue to close Arcadia
Avenue, from Westhaven Drive to Heritage Trail, on Saturday, September 20, 2008, from
12:00 noon to 10:00 p.m., for their neighborhood block party, in accordance with their recently
submitted Block Party Request Form.
9. GRANNY SMITH RUN/WALK
Request permission to grant approval to the Oshkosh Seniors Center to utilize city streets and
facilities on Saturday, September 27, 2008, from 9:00 a.m .to 10:00 a.m., for their SK Granny
Smith Run/Walk event, in accordance with the attached letter of request.
• 10. BLOCK PARTY
Request permission to grant approval to the residents of Rolling Green Circle to close Rolling
Green Circle, from 125 to 165 Rolling Green Circle on Saturday, August 30, 2008, from 12:00
p.m. to 9:00 p.m., for their neighborhood block party, in accordance with the attached letter of
request.
• 11. VARIANCE TO NOISE ORDINANCE
Request permission to grant a variance to the city's noise ordinance to Miron Construction
Company for the purpose of pouring the CTBackwash basin slab at the Water Filtration Plant
from 5:00 a. m. to 5:00 p.m., possibly on August 27, but no later than September 5, 2008, in
accordance with the attached letter of request.
