Phone (414) 233-1535 RE: Building permit and inspection of property that may be annexed in to
Fax (414) 235-9585 the City of Oshkosh.
You inquired as to what would be required, or how the inspection of the home that
you are constructing at 204 Kirkwood, would be handled should this property be
annexed into the city. You stated that the reason for annexation would be to obtain
city water, and for that reason you wished to not install a well. Since prior to
annexation, there would be no water supplied to the home, it would not be possible
to issue an occupancy permit and close the permit file.
I spoke with Allyn Dannhoff, the City of Oshkosh, building inspector, and he and I
agreed that if the property were to be annexed into the city, prior to the house being
completed and an occupancy permit being granted, the city would complete any
unfinished inspections. At the time I spoke to Mr. Dannhoff he was unsure of what
possible permit fees the city would require, since this is a unique situation. He did
say that the situation regarding the open permit file, should be noted in the
application for annexation, and that it would be addressed prior to the annexation
being granted.
If you wish to annex this property, you need to make application with the City of
Oshkosh, and then they will notify the town of the annexation request.
If you have any further questions regarding this please call me.
