Awards
: Sue Kreibich announced that awards will be given out at the 2 City Council meeting in May at 6 p.m.
The Verl Franz award will go to Ron Duerkop from Winnebago County Human Services; the Oranda Bangsberg
Community Service award will go to Friends of Park View and the Life Service award will be given to Mae Ziebell.
New Business:
Mark Huddleston from the Transportation Department spoke on changes he thought might need to
be made to the Dial-a-Ride program and the ADA program (Americans with Disability Act). He wanted the opinion
of the committee. There are so many people with ADA cards that the service is going broke. ADA service charges
are $1.00 per one way ride and regular Dial-A-Ride is $3.50 per one way. He believes and several committee
members agreed that there are people with cards who don’t have a major disability. By having a totally new service,
people needing the ADA service would need to get re-certified and those who couldn’t be certified could use the
regular reduced fare taxi service. He offered suggestions and committee members concurred with his ideas that it
would be desirable for regular Dial-A-Rides costs to be reduced. Mark thanked the Committee and promised to
keep them informed as he made changes.
nd
The City Council will be re-appointing Corky Abraham and Toby Rosenberg to serve another term at their 2
meeting in April. A letter was sent to Don Kutchera along with phone messages and there was no reply as to if he
would like to stay on or resign. With no response it was decided to fill that position as well as two others. The new
members of the committee with their appointment at the next City Council meeting will be Amy McKenzie, Jesse
Fillmore and Mary Ruth McGinley.
M/S/C (Konrad, Bennedict) to ratify the acceptance of requesting funding as described by Sue from Winnebago
County. M/S/C (Caudle, Bennedict) to accept John Vandenberg to a three year term on the Oshkosh Seniors Center
Board.

Committee Comments:
Dr. Caudle received an award from CWAG for 3 District. This was submitted by Ann
th
Jungwirth along with Sue Kreibich’s help. Med-D workshop which will be held on May 9 from 5-8 p.m. will be
educating people about this program. The deadline to sign up for Medicare Part D and not receive any penalty is
May 15, 2006. Joan Rogers brought up a concern that the Northwestern is printing addresses of deceased people in
the obituaries. When contacted by Joan their reply was that they print what is given to them. Konrad-Behlman and
Seefeld Funeral Homes do not publish any addresses. Sue will ask Mary Beth to contact other area Funeral Homes
to see what their policies are and report back at the next meeting. It was announced that funds can’t be divested five
years (used to be three years) before entering a nursing home; this bill was signed into law by President Bush on
February 6, 2006.
M/S/C (Konrad, Bennedict) to adjourn the meeting.
Respectively Submitted,
Bobbie Jo Luft
Oshkosh Seniors Center Office Assistant
