Correspondence: A letter was received from Jim Genisio concerning Medicare. Corky Abraham passed it around for those interested in reviewing. Three terms are will expire; they include Corky, Toby and Don. They are to advise the committee if they wish to be re-appointed. Sue gave a booklet to each member from Bay Area on Aging Agency. Sue introduced Christie Gonwa, Regional Program Supervisor of the Northeast region for Lutheran Social Services. LSS offers counseling services on Tuesdays in the Seniors Center. LSS bases payment for counseling on a sliding scale to make rates affordable to all so no one will be turned away. The Adult Day Center has 17 participants with an average of 10.5 participants per day. Participants are able to come full or part time. LSS also offers van th service for pick up and drop offs. LSS held their open house on Feb. 25. The program has not had much marketing except for word of mouth. The doors in the Day Center are alarmed just in case a participant would happen to wander out. If a participant is not safe or poses a threat to other participants, that participant may need to find another program better suited for them. Capacity is 16 for now at one time, but if the Day center continues to grow a letter would be written to the state requesting allowance for more participants. Eventually Day Services would like more space as their needs continue to grow. In the future they would like to include a whirlpool and shower room. Statistics say that by 2020 population of those age 65-85 will triple. The need for Day Services will continue to grow as more and more elderly are staying in their own homes longer. CWAG: M/S/C (Rosenberg, Konrad), to pay $25 for membership renewal for CWAG. The district meeting will be held in Appleton sometime in April. Ann Jungwirth said that attendance from this district is very poor. The local AARP has disbanded. M/S/C (Konrad, Bennedict) to designate Ann Jungwirth and Dr. Jean Caudle as delegates. Ann Jungwirth, would like the committee to make recommendations for topics that will need to be voted on at CWAG meeting so she and Dr. Jean Caudle can vote in favor of the majority of the board. rd Awards : Sue received confirmation of approval to give awards at the City Council meeting on May 23. The Housing brochure is updated and ready to print. th Transportation: Corky Abraham and Mark Huddleston talked on February 9 about the delay in cabulance services. Cabulance response was that they have had several ill staff, which gave them a shortage of drivers. Marybeth will put information in the Senior Doings as who to contact with concerns about Cabulance. Senior Connections: Marybeth has served 57 people and 72 units of service in the month of February. Candice Corbett will continue to assist with Medicare Part D at the Oshkosh Seniors Center on Wednesday in the month of March from 10-12. LSS has increased Senior Connection hours from 23 to 24 hours per week. Issues of Concern: Kara Klein monitored calls coming into the front desks in Advocap Neenah and Oshkosh offices. Sue will contact Judy Richie to see if she would be willing to monitor calls and compile a list of most frequent calls. New Business: To finish with the Master Plan we need to find out what the needs are in the community and get reaction from other public programs. Some of the programs at the Seniors Center are growing which leaves little for space. Some programs are the computer classes, the meal site, the exercise area, fox fitness center as well as the Day Center. Elections for officers of this committee will be held at the May meeting. Meeting time will stay the same for now, but may change in the future. This committee needs to work on developing list of speakers. It was suggested to put an article in the Northwestern about the vacancies on the committee. M/S/C (Jungwirth/Konrad), the meeting be adjourned at 9:15 a.m. Respectively Submitted, Bobbie Jo Luft Oshkosh Seniors Center Office Assistant
