Aging Services Manager:
Sue Kreibich announced that Mark Huddleston from
Transit realizes the need and importance there is for senior transportation. The
Committee felt that the age for Dial-a-ride should remain the same or change
from 60 to 62. This saving helps to justify the loss of wages after going on Social
Security. Many patrons referred to the Cab Company as being rude and having
to wait for a very long time.
Correspondence:
Housing Directory:
No Report
Board of Directors:
Kristin Cimera announced that the Board is moving along
with the strategic planning.
Chairman:
Corky announced that next month there will be no reports but only
discussion on issues of concern.
CWAG:
Ann Jungwirth announced that everyone should have received the
“Qualified Insurance Coverage letter”. This letter is to inform one if the insurance
they have will be approved, so a penalty will not be applied for those who apply
for Medicare Part D after the deadline.
Winnebago County Commission on Aging:
Dr. Caudle stated that the
Commission is interested in transportation and the meal-sites. As of November
rd
23 6,283 seniors have heard the presentation about the Medicare Part D. Out
of that number 381 have completed the form to sign up. Benefit Specialists are
receiving 45-60 calls on a daily basis. Dr. Caudle passed out a sheet from the
Benefit Specialist that were given to the Commission members.
New Business:
Review the report of COA issue list, with ideas of what the
committee should be doing with ways to help. At the next meeting each member
is to come up with five issues of concern and list with the most important first.
Donna Lohry suggested having people from the federal government speaking at
meetings. Corky Abraham would like to see more action taken from the
committee. Senior Connections person, Marybeth will be working 26 ½ hours
per week. Jerry Konrad suggested that a list of hypothetical questions be made
and have the answers to frequently asked questions ready.
Respectfully Submitted,
Bobbie Jo Luft, Office Assistant
