A $15 charge to attend includes lunch. Discussion will take place on issues affecting elderly. Corky, Kristen and Toby would like copies of the different topics of choice. The Senior Housing rd Directory is due for updating. The Housing committee will meet on March 23 at 7:30 a.m. to discuss the need for us to publish the directory in light of another directory that is published that covers several Counties. Sue commented on the increased revenues thus far this year. In January the Fox Fitness Center, Computer and Exercise classes have doubled the amount that January 2004 had. The loan for the Annex Renovation will be paid off March 15. The Annex purchase was $460,000; the Friends of the Oshkosh Seniors Center put $50,000 down. The total amount paid off by the Friends of the Oshkosh Seniors Center was $750,000 that included renovations. It is still to be determined if Public Works will be leasing the pole building attached to the Annex beyond this year. As the Fox Fitness Center continues to grow more room is needed. This is the same with the exercise classes. The renovated area could include a walking track also. The old Fox Fitness Center space could be used for other needs. Chairman Report: Corky Abraham passed out the Senior Shuttle Route statistics for February. Suggestions were made that the bus should have something written on the side, stating it is the Senior Shuttle. Corky suggested mailing an announcement to all churches about the bus route. Kristen Cimera suggested having it promoted on the cable access channel. Toby Rosenberg mentioned to have something at the library talking about it. Sue Kreibich said that she would pass the suggestions mentioned along to Bev Mallon, of the Oshkosh City Transit. Corky asked if there is a chance that the Annex might stay open for evening hours, since there are so many younger people retiring. Sue answered that there are not enough staff to work evening hours. Corky passed out an informational sheet of the population trends of Winnebago County. Terry Mclaughlin of the Hoffman Corporation gave a presentation educating people on things to be aware of as you age. This will allow one to “Age in Place”. Mae Ziebell thought that the changes to be made were fine but very expensive. Kristen agreed that the main issue for elderly is financial. With no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 9:00 a.m. Respectfully Submitted, Bobbie Jo Luft, Office Assistant
