Board of Directors of the Oshkosh Seniors Center
Meeting Minutes- Monday February 27, 2006
Attendance
: Board members: Bill McCarthy; Mary Luepke; Esther Stegemann; Ralph Nielsen; Barbara
Ruedinger; Mona Walker; Kristin Cimera; AJ Anand and Toni Anand. Excused member: Phyll Hill; Don
Wolter; Judy Troudt; Bob Hoffman and Leon Thompson. Staff Members: Sue Kreibich, Aging Services
Manager; Bobbie Luft, Center Office Assistant; MaryBeth Kurzynske Senior Connection; and Human
Service Student Stephanie.
President Bill McCarthy called the meeting to order at 1:00 p.m. Sue introduced Stephanie, our Human
Service student who works 10 hours per week assisting Judy with a variety of duties.
REPORTS:
Aging Services Manager
: Sue Kreibich passed around a poster of the Badger Band that was printed as a
donation from Steinert Printing. She announced donations have come in for Badger Band, totaling
approximately $4200. Ticket sales have been growing as well. Expenses besides the 50% of net profit to
the Badger Band will total about $5,000. There will be 300 floor seats available for those that can not
make it up the bleachers. Volunteers are needed to assist with chair set-up and take-down, serve food and
ticket sales. Sue attended a Collaboration meeting where the City Manager and the County Executive
talked about goals. Sue passed around a pamphlet of what the new Parkview will look like. Human
Services would like to remove people from a waiting list and serve them in a more timely fashion. April
21 is a Day of Caring locally.
Executive Committee:
The Board and the Oshkosh Committee on Aging should get together for a
meeting to discuss mutual concerns. Kristin Cimera is the Committee on Aging delegate to this Board.
The Oshkosh Committee on Aging works to service the needs of seniors. They meet the first Thursday of
each month at 8 am. It was concluded that is in not mandatory for the staff to be at the Board meetings.
The executive committee will continue to look at how the Board works. A suggestion was made to study
whether some committees could be combined.
Friends:
Jean Zimmerman was reporting in place of Gen Steinhilber President of the Friends. FOSC is
promoting a car wash for $10.99 that will be good for one year. This promotion will run through March.
It has been suggested to change the name of the Fall Family Fun Fest to something else. Suggestions
would be appreciated, please let a member of the FOSC know. Toni Anand and Sue Kreibich will work
together to set a meeting up with the Board of the Seniors Center and Friends of the Center. Mona
Walker will assist. Mona Walker will serve as a liaison to the Friends monthly meetings for the Board. If
your Friends dues are due and you have not paid, your membership will be cancelled as of tomorrow.
Membership fees are $15 for single and $20 for couples; a membership benefit is having the Senior
Doings newsletter mailed to your home and a 10% discount in the Gift Shop. The Friends have approved
Linda Verwiel to work an additional five hours per week to help FOSC and another five to do Marketing.
No Reports from Board President, Oshkosh Committee on Aging, Facilities/Maintenance, Finance,
Health, Nominating, Personnel, Policy, Programs, Special Fund-Raising, Strategic Plan and no Old
Business.
