REPORTS:
Aging Services Manager, Sue Kreibich reported on the status of the Annex Roof.
The roof being purchased will be the least expensive and will require some maintenance. Bids
will be let soon and the costs of the project will be covered by federal Block Grant dollars. Sue
also described the condition of areas of the main facility and Annex where the heating and air
conditioning systems are not working properly. When Marten’s did the recent HVAC work, they
found that ductwork was not done originally according to the plans as there was not enough
space. They improvised and that is causing a substantial amount of the heating and cooling
problems with the rooms. Martens and Sue will be having a meeting sometime soon and talk
about the cost and what the improvements will do for the issues with the heating and cooling.
Dean from Martens will give a quote for work to be done in the Willow Rooms and the Office
area of the Annex. A question was asked if we have anyone from the city that could look at the
work that is done to make sure it is done correctly. Sue will investigate this further.
The Friends of the Oshkosh Seniors Center will make the last loan payment in March to the City.
Sue will be fining out if the Public Works Department intends to lease the pole shed area of the
Annex after 2005. They have been paying $25,000 yearly since 2001 and these funds have
helped pay off the mortgage at the Annex. A grant was submitted to the Ladies Benevolent
Society requesting grant funds in the amount of $2,881 to cover the Nurses time (7 ½ hours per
month.) Molly's time of 7.5 hours per month would be in- kind payment. Donations would be
accepted for the services.

FRIENDS:
Barbara Ruedinger, President of the Friends of the Oshkosh Seniors Center, reported
that the Friends Board held their election on January 27. The officers remained the same with no
vice-president. Six new members were re-elected: Betty Dugo; Sue Daggett; Sheila Miller; Jean
Zimmerman; Marian Caron and Joanne Stecker. The Strawberry Fest will continue to be held at
South Park. Bingo, however, needs to be reorganized. A survey was given to bingo participants
by Linda Verwiel and Judy Brewer and results were shared with Friends Board members and also
a copy to this Board. Doris Nordhaus has been bingo chairwoman for a number of years and has
done a fine job. Doris decided she would retire in April. Barb asked that all Board members join
the Friends as the money goes to help fund the Seniors Center and members will receive a 10%
discount in the Gift Shop. Linda Verwiel marketing coordinator of the Center passed out fund
raising ideas at the Friends meeting. Sue Kreibich reminded all members that the Friends pay for
the marketing coordinator and program assistant's positions along with $10,000 toward the
program coordinator's position.
Health:
Sue will get a copy of the Health statistics from 2004 for the Board.

Programs:
Ginny Rice reported that the dances sponsored by the Center brought in $675.36 in
profit for the program account in 2004. Dance attendance has gone up, but it would be great if
attendance would be around 100-125. Starting in January, dance prices went from $3 to $4.
Band prices are increasing. Some attendees would like a three-hour dance but Ginny is thinking
of having two and one half- hours per dance. The Christmas Cookie sale made $190 and $35 in
donations. If anyone has any white elephant gifts they would like to donate the dances could use
them for door prizes.

Announcements:
The 30th Anniversary celebration will start on April 8 with a dinner and a
dance. The cost of the Dinner will be $8 and includes Lasagna. The Dance will cost $5 but a
combo ticket to dinner and dance will cost $12. On Sunday the celebration will conclude with an
open house from 2-4 p.m. at the Annex and Main Facility. The next 30th Anniversary Committee
meeting will be held on the last day of February at 1 p.m. A suggestion was made to put a sign
up in the Gift Shop about the 10% discount for Friends' members. Molly has an incentive
st
program for Fox Fitness participants. As of February 1, anyone who recommends a friend to
join for a monthly membership will receive a free tee -shirt. Esther Stegemann can no longer be
vice-president. An election for her replacement will be at the next board meeting. President, Bill
McCarthy will serve as policy chairman unless someone else comes forward. Senior Shuttle bus
route ridership is low. An average of 150 riders per day is required to keep the route after the
first year. Some people think that ridership may be down do to the winter weather; more seniors
get out once the weather is nice. A suggestion to put a sign on the bus saying Senior Shuttle
might help to get more riders.
st
Sue announced that CPT, AED training will be offered on Feb. 7 and 21. Sign up with Sara at

With no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
