Please be advised that this office has been retained by Ms. Nancy Andrews and her co-tenants.
She and her roommates presently occupy the apartment commonly known as 819 John Ave. I am
hereby advising you that Ms. Andrews will be vacating the apartment no later than midnight,
January 23, 1997. She is vacating the premises due to the fact that the City of Oshkosh Housing
Inspector has indicated that the "basement bedroom" that she is currently occupying does not
comply with the requirements of a habitable room and therefore the bedroom must be vacated
immediately.
It appears from the correction notices regarding this property that there is much work that needs
to be done on the lower unit. I have had the opportunity to review the check-in list that was
completed by our clients as is provided for under the Wisconsin Administrative Code. That
check-in list was dated August 19, 1996. It is approximately two (2) pages in length. That
check-in list indicates that at the time of checking in there were numerous problems with the
apartment. Given the condition of the apartment, and given your repeated failure to make repairs
as requested by our clients, I am certain that our clients will give strong consideration to a rent
abatement action.
