RE: Air Dryer Opinion
I agree with you that the motor control panel as presently located violates
Comm 16.18 and NEC 110-26. Most service people will test the motor control
transformer output while it is energized and more than likely the complete
system. I also agree that turning the enclosure gO-degrees to face the
compartment access should bring the control panel into compliance. You may
need to explain the manufacture or the listing agent than Comm 16.18
modifies NEC 11 0-3(b) that it must still comply with the code whether the
product is listed or not. I assume that the appliance disconnect is located
within sight from this appliance?

Kevin,
One of our service technicians is going to be in the area next week. He
will be making the necessary modifications to the unit. We will be looking
at some things here to incorporate a more user-friendly design on future
models.
Sorry for all the inconvenience. We generally design equipment to meet
CSAlUL specs., but occasionally local coding causes us to make a change, as
in this case. Thanks for your help.
Regards,
Brian

Listed or labeled equipment shall be installed or used,or both, in
accordance with any instructions included in the listing or labeling,
provided the instructions, listing or labeling do not conflict with this
