I/WE UNDERSTAND THAT ACCORDING TO THE ""SMOKE DETECTOR ORDINANCE" THE LESSOR/TENANT IS RESPONSIBLE FOR PERFORMING' THE FOLLOWING STEPS IN ACCORDANCE WITH MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND/OR RECOMMEnDATIONS FOR SMOKE DETECTORS INSIDE OF TENANT'S DWELLING UNIT ONLY 1) Battery replacement - Owner 2) Periodic testing of smoke detectors - Tenant NOTE: THE SMOKE DETECTOR ORDINANCE REQUIRES THAT THE TENANT SHALL IMMEDIATELY NOTIFY THE LANDLORD IN WRITING IF' A DEFECT bEVELoPSWITR THE DETECTOR(S). A DETECTOR WITH A DEAD, OR MISSING, 'Ot( DEFECTIVE BATTERY IS CONSIDERED TO BE A DEFECTIVE SMoKE DETECTOR. IT Is 'ILLEGAL' FOR A TENANT TO INTENTIONALLY DISCONNECT OR REMOVE 'BATTERIES EXCEPT AT TIME OF BATTERY REPLACEMENT ONLY.
