HomeMy WebLinkAboutLetter - 11/30/1979 November 30~ 1979 Mr. Ph i 1 Jacohson 725 Oak Street Wtnneconne, WI 54986 Dear Mr. Jacobson: On November 27, 1979, t noted that two vehicles: were p~rked illegally tn the setback area from Wisconsin Street at your property known as 524 West New York Avenue, a violation of Oshkosh Municipal Cooe requirements. I issued IIwarning ticketstl for these two vehicles. 1 also spoke to the owner of one of the vehicles, a tenant at the dwelling. She state~ that there are five persons who 1 ivehere, each of whom have a veht eta and need a place to park. Oshkosh Municipal Code, Section 30-20,prohibits parking in designated setback areas. Essentially, this means there shall be 'no parking in yards adjacent to streets. The purpose of the ordinance is to preserve the appearance of neigh- borhoods. At YOtlr property, the two parking spaces tn the driveway leading to the garage are the only legal parking spaces In the yards adjacent to vii scons tn Street and New York Avenue. Please advise futur~ tenants of thisreqiJirement and be certain that tenants do not park in violation of this requirement. It is my understanding that the five unrelated persons living at this property share the entire dwelllng as one single dwelling unit. The Oshkosh Municipal Code states that any dwell tng unit occupied by more than four unrelated persons is classified as a rooming house aodis required to have a rooming house ltcense. No rooming house 1 icense has been issued for th:ts property. The rooming house use of of this dwell tng shall be discontinued by December )1,1979. if the dwelling is found to oecupted as a rooming house following that date, the matter wi 11 be referred to the City Attorney for legal act ion. If you have any questions or comments, please c~tl me at 424-0375. Very truly yours, RICHARD R. MATTHEIS Housing Inspector RRHbkz 3953
