RE: Proposed Tent Meeting / Vacant Lot Adjacent to 1307 Evans Street
Dear Rev. George:
The City Manager is in receipt of your request to hold a tent meeting beginning on July 11 with the tent being
removed on July 14. He has asked that I review this request and identify issues that you need to address prior
to the use of this site in the manner proposed.
The site is zoned R-l Single Family Residence and as per the City of Oshkosh Zoning Ordinance, a Conditional
Use Permit is required for expansion of church uses. A public hearing is required to obtain a Conditional Use
Permit. You must complete a General Application form and submit it to the Department of Community
Development for processing together with a filing fee of$50.00. The public hearing process takes
approximately 30 to 45 days start to finish. Approval of the Conditional Use Permit must be granted prior to the
proposed use taking place. To obtain additional information in this regard please contact the Planning Division
at 236-5059.
If you are going to serve food on site a Health Permit will be required. To begin the process to obtain a Health
Permit, please contact the Health Director, Paul Spiegel at 236-5031. Mr. Spiegel will describe the process to
obtain a Health Permit and will also assist you through that process.
There are also several Building Code issues which must be addressed. Some of these issues relate to electrical
services, fire extinguisher requirements, exit requirements and adequate sanitary facilities requirements. Please
contact Allyn Dannhoff, Director ofInspection Services at 236-5050 for more information and also the process
in which to obtain approvals in this regard.
