The following violations were noted at the inspection. Item # 1 Code MUN 7-8 Compliance No Compliance Date 11/16/2007 Description A building permit is required for the reconstruction and extension of the side porch. The porch framing is required to be rebuilt to meet minimum code requirements. A minimum of 48" of frost protection will be required.Currently the porch does not meet minimum code 10/17/2007 requirements. The deteriorated beam under the porch is required to be removed and replaced. Submit a detailed framing plan for our review. Risers may not exceed 8 inches in height and treads shall be a minimum of 9 inches in width. The treads and risers can not vary in uniformity by more than 3/16 inch for the entire stairway. Handrails ~th a round cross sectional gripping surface shall have a maximum whole diameter of 2". Handrails with a rectangular cross sectional gripping 10/17/2007 surface shall have a maximum perimeter of 6 1/4" with a maximum cross sectional dimension of 2 7/8". The porch severely saggs from one end to the other and is pitched away from the house. The following iolations were noted at the inspection. 10/17/2007 Code COMM 21.02 Compliance No Compliance Date 11/16/2007 Due to the new lumber treatment process the treated wood industry has recommended the use of stainless steel or "special" hot dip alvanized fasteners and connectors. The fasteners are required to meet ASTM Standard A153 to avoid corrosion.Currently the nails and crews used have already rusted. This is enough evidence to make the conclusion that improper fasteners were used in the construction of e porch. When rebuilding the porch submit information on the proposed fasteners. Item # 6 Description Last Updated permit is required to be obtained within the next 30 days. A scaled site plan and a detailed framing plan is required to be submitted for review and approval. Offic~Lhours are Monday through Friday from 7:30-8:30am and 12:30-1 :30pm. Summary Violations must be corrected and approved within 30 days unless otherwise noted. Call for reinspections prior to concealment and/or occupancy. Upon completing the corrections, the owner/contractor/agent must sign and date at the bottom of this notice and return it to the Inspection Services Division by the Compliance Date of 11/15/2007 Office hours for obtaining permits are Monday through Friday 7:30-8:30 a.m. and 12:30-1 :30 p.m. or by appointment. This installation is in direct violation of the following state and local code requirements. The following are the State and Local code references that apply to permits and licenses: Comm 5.31 No person may obtain a building permit for a one or two family dwelling unless the person holds a dwelling contractor financial responsibility certification issued by the Department of Commerce. To obtain this certification call (608) 261-8500. Permits are required prior to commencing construction in the City of Oshkosh for building, electrical, plumbing, and heating work. As an experienced contractor I would have to believe that you are well aware of the aforementioned regulations. Therefore, this letter serves as your final warning. Violations of this nature discovered in the future will result in the issuance of Municipal Citations. Failure to comply with the attached Correction Notice for the installation of the porch at 1165 W South Park Ave, will result in the issuance of Municipal Citations. Meaning, this office expects you to assist the property owner with providing compliance by constructing the porch to meet minimum code requirements or giving back her money so she can hire a qualified contractor.
