Dear Ms. Leader:
On June 14, 1984, Bob Vajgrt from the Fire Inspector's Office and
I inspected portions of your property known as 303 Washington Avenue
following a complaint of minimum housing code and fire code violations
therein. During the inspection we noted the following violations:
1. There is only one exit from the rented room in the basement
and only one exit from the basement.
2. There was evidence of rodent activity in the rented room.
3. The ventilation in the rented room is inadequate.
4. The ceilings in the rented room are less than seven feet in
height.
5. There is illegal wiring and a broken light fixture in the
rented room.
6. The sink in the basement "kitchen" is not properly vented.
OV-7. There is a large amount of combustibles stored in the furnace
area.
o~. There are two storage rooms off the furnace room with improp-
erly stored combustibles and debris.
Therefore the renting of the basement room is in violation of the
Minimum Housing Code as well as the Fire Codes and rental of this room
shall cease. The combustible materials stored in the basement shall be
removed or properly stored in fire resistant containers.
I will reinspect the property on July 16, 1984 to ascertain whether
or not the violations have been corrected. If you have any questions or
cannot correct the violations by the designated date, please contact this
office as soon as possible at 236-5137.
