LIMITATIONS:

Certificate of Occupancy shall be required prior to occupancy, should additional
building(s) be erected, or should any buildings mentioned above be altered or
moved. The use of land, or buildings, shall not be changed until a Certificate of

The submittal described above has been reviewed for conformance with applicable Wisconsin Administrative Codes and
Wisconsin Statutes. The submittal has been CONDITIONALLY APPROVED. The owner, as defmed in Chapter
101.01(10), Wisconsin Statutes, is responsible for compliance with all code requirements

. IBC 302.1.1 Incidental use areas. Areas that are incidental to the main occupancy shall be separated and
protected in accordance with Table 302.1.1 and shall be classified in accordance with the main occupancy
of the portion of the building in which the incidental use. area is located. Storage Room [113J appears to
be over 100 sq feet.
. IBC 302.1.1.1 Separation. Where Table 302.1.1 requires a fire-resistance-rated separation, the incidental
use area shall be separated from the remainder of the building with a fire barrier. Where Table 302.1..1
permits an automatic fire-extinguishing system without a fire barrier. the-incidental use area shall be
separated by construction capable of resisting the passage of smoke. The partitions shatl extend from the
floor to the underside of the fire-resistance-rated floor/c~iling assembly or fire-resistance-rated roof/ceiling
assembly or to the underside of the floor or roof deck above. Doors shall be self-closing or automatic-
closing upon detection of smoke. Doors shall not have air transfer openings and shall not be undercut in
excess of the clearance permitted in accordance with NFP A 80. Door Schedule does not include

. IBC 706.4 Continuity. Fire barriers shall extend from the top of the floor/ceiling assemblybelowtothe
underside of the floor or roof slab or deck above and shall be securely attached thereto. These walls shall
be continuous through concealed spaces such as the space above a suspended ceiling. The supporting
construction shall be protected to afford the required fire-resistance rating of the. fire barrier supported. . ..
Verify that existing openings being closed up in the existing 2 hour rated corridor are properly
constructed I closed up to maintain the fire rating. Sheet A-3 indicates that in-fill opening with 3 518"
Stl Studs 16"O.C. wi 518" Gypsum both sides, - a single layer of gypsum on each side will not maintain
the required fire rating.
. IBC 711.3 Any penetrations of fire rated assemblies are required to be protected with a listed firestopping
system that matches the rating of the wall assembly being penetrated. Copies of the firestopping systems
are required to be provided at the time of inspection.
. IBC 714.2.3 Doors in corridors and smoke barriers. Fire doors required to have a minimum fire-
protection rating of 20 minutes where located in corridor walls or smoke barrier walls having a fire-
resistance rating in accordance with Table 714.2 shall be tested in accordance with NFP A 252 or UL 10C
without the hose stream test. If a 20-minute fire door or fire door assembly contains glazing material, the
glazing material in the door itself shall have a minimum fire-protection rating of 20 minutes and be exempt
from the hose stream test. Glazing material in any other part of the door assembly, including transom lites
and sidelites, shall be tested in accordance with NFP A 257, including the hose stream test, in accordance
with Section 714.3. Firedoors shall also meet the requirements for a smoke- and draft-control door
assembly tested in accordance with UL 1784 with an artificial bottom seal installed across the full width of
the bottom of the door assembly. The air leakage rate of the door assembly shall not exceed 3.0 cfm per
square foot (0.01524 m3/slm2) of door opening at 0.10 inch (24.9 Pa) of water for both the ambient
temperature and elevated temperature tests. Louvers shall be prohibited. Verify that doors installed in
corridor openings meet smoke and draft seal requirements
. IBC 714.2.6 Glass installed in rated doors is required to be fire protection rated glazing, and bear a label in
accordance with mc 714.2.6.4, and comply with the safety glazing requirements of Chapter 24.

. IBC 714.2.7 Fire doors shall be self closing or automatic closing. The door schedule included in the
plans does not show closers for the added fire doors. All hardware installed on rated doors is required
to comply with NFP A 80 requirements for hardware on rated doors.
. IBC 901.2 Fire protection systems shallbe installed, repaired, operated and maintained in accordance with
this code and the international fire code. Construction of new walls may require the addition and or
relocation of sprinkler heads to maintain required coverage, and not obstruct spray patterns of fire
sprinklers .
. IFC 901.4 Fire protection systems shall be maintained in accordance with the original installation
standards for that system. Required fire protection systems shall be extended, altered, or augmented as
necessary to maintain and continue protection whenever the building is altered, remodeled or added to.
Alterations to fire protection systems shall be done in accordance with applicable standards. Submit plans
for fire sprinkler modifications.
. IBC 906.1/ IFC 906.3 The maximum travel distance allowed to a fire extinguisher is 75 feet.
. IBC 907.2.2 Group B. A manual fire alarm system shall be installed in Group B occupancies having an
occupant load of 500 or more persons or more than 100 persons above or below the lowest level of exit
discharge.

· IRC 907.14 Any fire alarm system required by this Chapter is required to be monitored by an approved
supervising station in accordance with NFP A 72.
· IRC 1003.2.2..5 Posting of occupant load. Every room or space that is an assembly occupancy shall have
the occupant load of the room or space posted in a conspicuous place, near the main exit access doorway

training room this area may be classified as an assembly area. Provide additional details on larout and
occupant count calculations for this area.

are required to have adequate emergency lighting to meet the performance requirements of IRC

· 1004.3.2.4 Air movement in corridors. Corridors shall itot serve as supply, return, exhaust, relief or

1. Use of a corridor as a source of makeup air for exhaust systems in rooms that open directly onto such
corridors, including toilet rooms, bathrooms, dressing rooms, smoking lounges and janitor closets, shall be
permitted provided that each such corridor is directly supplied with outdoor air at a: rate greater than the
rate of makeup air taken from the corridor.
2. Use of the space between the corridor ceiling and the floor or roof structure above as a return air
plenum is permitted for one or more of the following conditions:
2.1. The corridor is not required to be of fire-resistance-rated construction.
2.2. The corridor is separated from the plenum by fire-resistance-rated construction.
2.3. The air-handling system serving the corridor is shut down upon activation of the air-handling unit
smoke detectors required by the International Mechanical Code.

provided and maintained about all electric equipment to permit ready and safe operation and maintenance
of such eqlJipment. Verify that the appropriate clearances required by this section are being maintained
around any equipment located above ceiling.
· IMC 403.3.3 Variable air volume air distribution systems, other than those designed to supply only 100%
ol.ltdoor air shallbe provided with controls to regulate the flow of outdoor air. Such controls shall be
designed to maintain the flow of outdoor air at a rate not less than required by Section 403 over the entire
range of supply air operating rates. Additional information dated February 1h indicates that all RTU's
are controlled by the building automation system having VFD's for air capacity control. Verify that

· IMC 403.3.4 Balancing Ventilation systems shall be balanced by an approved method. Such balancing
shall verify that the ventilation system is capable of supplying the airflow rates required by Section 403.

any piping served by a self-regulating electric heating cable, HV AC system piping, and related HVAC
fluid conveying conduit, such as heat exchanger bodies, shall be thermally insulated in accordance with
Table 63.1029 or equivalent.
· IECC Comm 63.1029(4) Additional duct sealing. (a) General. Except as specified in par. (b),
ductwork and plenums shall be sealed In accordance with Table 63.1029-1, and shall meet the duct seal
classes specified in Table 63.1029-2. Verify that ductwork is properly sealed for the correct duct design
static pressure classification, as plans submitted do not provided any information as to duct sealing or
pressure classification.
