IBC 706.4 Continuity. Fire barriers shall extend from the top of the floor/ceiling assemblybelowtothe underside of the floor or roof slab or deck above and shall be securely attached thereto. These walls shall be continuous through concealed spaces such as the space above a suspended ceiling. The supporting construction shall be protected to afford the required fire-resistance rating of the. fire barrier supported. . .. Verify that existing openings being closed up in the existing 2 hour rated corridor are properly constructed I closed up to maintain the fire rating. Sheet A-3 indicates that in-fill opening with 3 518" Stl Studs 16"O.C. wi 518" Gypsum both sides, - a single layer of gypsum on each side will not maintain the required fire rating. . IBC 711.3 Any penetrations of fire rated assemblies are required to be protected with a listed firestopping system that matches the rating of the wall assembly being penetrated. Copies of the firestopping systems are required to be provided at the time of inspection. . IBC 714.2.3 Doors in corridors and smoke barriers. Fire doors required to have a minimum fire- protection rating of 20 minutes where located in corridor walls or smoke barrier walls having a fire- resistance rating in accordance with Table 714.2 shall be tested in accordance with NFP A 252 or UL 10C without the hose stream test. If a 20-minute fire door or fire door assembly contains glazing material, the glazing material in the door itself shall have a minimum fire-protection rating of 20 minutes and be exempt from the hose stream test. Glazing material in any other part of the door assembly, including transom lites and sidelites, shall be tested in accordance with NFP A 257, including the hose stream test, in accordance with Section 714.3. Firedoors shall also meet the requirements for a smoke- and draft-control door assembly tested in accordance with UL 1784 with an artificial bottom seal installed across the full width of the bottom of the door assembly. The air leakage rate of the door assembly shall not exceed 3.0 cfm per square foot (0.01524 m3/slm2) of door opening at 0.10 inch (24.9 Pa) of water for both the ambient temperature and elevated temperature tests. Louvers shall be prohibited. Verify that doors installed in corridor openings meet smoke and draft seal requirements . IBC 714.2.6 Glass installed in rated doors is required to be fire protection rated glazing, and bear a label in accordance with mc 714.2.6.4, and comply with the safety glazing requirements of Chapter 24. \ . IBC 714.2.7 Fire doors shall be self closing or automatic closing. The door schedule included in the plans does not show closers for the added fire doors. All hardware installed on rated doors is required to comply with NFP A 80 requirements for hardware on rated doors. . IBC 901.2 Fire protection systems shallbe installed, repaired, operated and maintained in accordance with this code and the international fire code. Construction of new walls may require the addition and or relocation of sprinkler heads to maintain required coverage, and not obstruct spray patterns of fire sprinklers . .
