PURPOSE:
AMEND ROOM TAX SUNSET PROVISION
INITIATED BY:
CITY ADMINISTRATION,
WHEREAS, by Ordinance 07-111 adopted April 10, 2007, the Common Council
established the room tax at 10%, with a sunset provision that would reduce the tax to
eight percent when the current convention center debt is retired; and,
WHEREAS, the Council desires to refinance convention center renovations
through the continued use of the additional two percent room tax, as provided in Sec.
66.0615 of the Wisconsin Statutes;
NOW, THEREFORE, COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OSHKOSH DO
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That Section 3 of Ordinance 07-111 adopted April 10, 2007, IS
amended to read as follows:
Upon final payment of the convention center debt, both present
and that contemplated for renovations of the center in 2008,
provisions related to the additional 2% increase are repealed and
the room tax is reestablished at eight percent (8%).
SECTION 2. This ordinance shall be effective upon passage and publication as
provided by law.
