HomeMy WebLinkAboutDamaged sewer lateral TO: .GERALD KONRAD, CITY ENGINEER FROM: MARVIN HIGLEY, PLUMBING SUPERVISOR DATE: JUNE 10, 1982 SUBJECT: DAMAGED SEWER LATERAL FOR 2440 HAMILTON ST. Inspections were made on June 9th and June 10th , accompanied by Mr. Bill Tollard. A "U" shaped separation of ABS - 2751 - SDR 23.5 sewer pipe was observed about 15 inches west of the water main. The "U" had about a five inch spread between cracks. It appears that a tooth of a bucket scooping south to north came in contact with the pipe. The sewer lateral is also pitched in the wrong direction from the break to an 1/8 bend, a distance of about~ eight feet. The pipe from the 1/8 bend is pitching in the right direction. Mr. Kienast (Utility Contractor) stated he did not damage the pipe and he was not going to fix it. It is in the hands of his insurance company and his attorney. Mr. Kienast cut out the broken section of pipe and has it in his possession. I told Mr. Kienast to cap the cut sewer pipe so mud and water could not enter. Me Klescewski (plumber). stated he did not damage the pipe and installed from the hub on 1/8 bend to the house. His pipe is installed correct and is not pitched the wrong way. I told them that the City of Oshkosh will not judge who did it, and the city will not approve the main or lateral until it is correct.
