Re: Building permit for Vern & Joan Rogers
at 2152 Hickory La., Oshkosh, WI
Attn: Brian Noe
Brian,
Enclosed are the documents you requested to obtain the building permit at 2152 Hickory Lane.
As you can see by the various plot plans submitted, the information I gave you yesterday
is much closer than the aerial survey map you insisted I conform my dimensions to. If it is your
policy that the aerial survey map is to take precedence over field measurements and official
survey maps I will simply obtain a copy of the aerial survey map from your office and submit my
application accordingly, in order to obtain all future permits that require plot plans. In this case,
you will find that discrepancies are evident when comparing the three plot plans submitted. The
fact then becomes evident that if there is no violation of set back or code requirements when
analyzing all available information the permit should be issued. I would like to remind you that
the plot plan I submitted contained current field measurem~nts and information from plan
documents from 1955 as submitted prior to the original construction of the home.
Information on the construction techniques that will be used in this project are contained within
the documents enclosed. In a remodeling project and addition such as this, it is not always
evident as to which type of construction practice will be used until the work begins. This is
especially true regarding footing grades foundation types and tie in requirements. It should be
the responsibility of the contractor to insure that the proper techniques are used as the project
proceeds. However, there is no way to determine what techniques are required until the permit
is issued.
In closing, I would like to say that when obtaining future permits it would be advantageous to
both your office and myself to work at solving any problems and questions in a mutually
respectful manor and with expediency. I feel that most questions can be answered and the
appropriate information noted at the initial visit, resulting in the issuance of the permit at that
time. This can only occur when a helpful and non condescending attitude is portrayed by all
individuals involved. It is my policy, and always has been to provide the best construction
practices that conform to all code requirements. Common sense and good public relations will
make this goal easier to obtain.
Si~.
