BILLS It is recommended that the bills, as audited and presented by the Director of Finance, be approved for payment. 2. UW-OSHKOSH HOMECOMING PARADE Request permission to grant approval to the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh to utilize city streets and facilities on Saturday, October 6, 2007, from 8:30 a.m. to 11 :30 a.m., for the UW -Oshkosh Homecoming Parade, in accordance with the attached letter of request. 3. BREAST CANCER AWARENESS WALK Request permission to grant approval to the American Cancer Society to utilize Menominee Park and facilities on Saturday, October 6, 2007, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., for their 6th Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Walk, in accordance with the attached letter of request. 4. BLOCKPARTY Request permission to grant approval to the residents of the 1400 block of Wheatfield Way to close Wheatfield Way, between Ruschfield Drive and Timothy Trail, on Saturday, August 25, 2007, from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., for their neighborhood block party, in accordance with their recently submitted Block Party Request Form. 5. BLOCK PARTY Request permission to grant approval to the Oshkosh Police Department to close Broad Street, from Parkway Avenue to Merritt Avenue, on Tuesday, August 7, 2007, from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., for the National Night Out event, in accordance with their recently submitted Block Party Request Form. 6. BLOCKPARTY Request permission to grant approval to the residents of South Westfield Street to close South Westfield Street, between Crystal Springs Avenue and Reichow Street, on Saturday, August 18, 2007, from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., for their neighborhood block party, in accordance with their recently submitted Block Party Request Form. 7. BLOCKPARTY Request permission to grant approval to the residents of Harvest Court to close Harvest Court, from Golden Iris Drive to the end of the cul-de-sac, on Saturday, August 4, 2007, from 3:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., for their neighborhood block party, in accordance with their recently submitted Block Party Request Form. 8. CLOSING OF RAILROAD CROSSING Request permission to grant approval to the Canadian National Railway to tentatively close Murdock Avenue, at the railroad crossing just east of Harrison Street, on Tuesday, July 31, 2007, at 7:00 a.m. through Tuesday, August 7, 2007, at 7:00 a.m., to accommodate work on the railroad track, in accordance with the attached letter of request. . WW A TEAM CHALLENGE FISHING TOURNAMENT Request permission to grant approval to the World Walleye Association to utilize Riverside Park and facilities on Saturday and Sunday, August 11 and 12, 2007, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, and from 5:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, for their World Walleye Association Team Challenge Fishing Tournament, in accordance with the attached letter of request. . As in the past, a parade is one of the highlights of our festivities. Therefore we are requesting your approval of the following new route through the City of Oshkosh. Parade Assembly: From 8:30 - 10:30 a.m. Fox Valley Technical College parkingJot. The parade will proceed from the Fox Valley Technical College parking lot onto Campbell Road to Witzel Avenue, down Witzel Avenue to Joss1yn Street to Rush Avenue where the parade will disband. The Reeve Union Board Special Events committee believes this new route will encourage more participation at the Pre-Game Celebration tents prior to the football game. The parade will begin at 10:30 a.m. and should reach the disbanding area by approximately 11: 15 a.m. Upon your approval of this route, we will notify and work with Sergeant Tim Bakri of the Oshkosh Police Department and Street Superintendent Bob Horton regarding supervision of the parade. This event has been held in Oshkosh for the past six years and has been a success in creating community awareness and raising funds to help fight breast cancer. Nearly 1.3 million Americans are estimated to be diagnosed with cancer this year, and 11,000 are expected to die from the disease in the state of Wisconsin. While this is the 24th year that the national event has occurred, this is the first year the City of Oshkosh is participating. The purpose of National Night Out is to heighten crime prevention and drug prevention awareness, increase public awareness and support for local anti crime efforts and strengthen police-community cooperation. · Event is being organized by the Oshkosh Police Department. For additional information contact Dorry Wilner or Steve Sagmeister at 236-5700. · Oshkosh Boys and Girls Club, south parking lot from 6 pm to 8:30 pm Tuesday, August 7. If it rains, the event will be held in the Boys and Girls Teen Center. Parking in the north parking lot. · Information and demonstrations by SWAT Team, MEG (Multijurisdictional Drug Enforcement Unit), Winnebago County K9 Unit, Police Explorers, Police Auxiliary. Fire Department will be participating with information, sign up for free smoke detectors to be installed by the fire department emergency vehicle tours. Learn how to start your own neighborhood watch program. · Adults will be able to sign up at the event for a drawing for a Police ride-along · Children can register for a drawing for them and a parent to be picked up at home and be driven to the event in a squad car. Registration forms available at the public library childrens area, police station, City Hall. Registrations must be submitted to Police Department before Thursday, August 2. · Meet McGruff. . Tentative start date at this time would be Tuesday July 31 st 2007 at 0700 hrs and would reopen on Tuesday August ih at 0700 hrs. - Account Main Line RR Xing Renewal and removal of the West side track, plank and blacktop, working with your staff on road and sidewalk concerns that we have previously discussed with the city. This event will be under the general chairmanship of Steven Poll executive director of the WW A The popularity and success of the WW A lies in its team format.
