The outline that follows is a brief description of the 'Reviewer Comment' to the Construction Drawings submitted for permit, followed by the, "Response." These comments are in response to the Plan Review Comments dated June 21,2007. 1. IMC 606. Provide duct smoke detection system in new duct systems, with appropriate controls, unless (1) the return air rate is 2,000 cfm or less (See balancing report Comm 64.0313), OR (2) the air distribution system is incapable of spreading smoke beyond the enclosing walls, floor and ceiling of the room or space in which the smoke is generated. The smoke detection system shall shut down the air distribution system upon activation. Smoke detectors shall be connected to a fire alarm system. The activation of a smoke detector shall activate a visible and audible supervisory signal at a constantly attended location unless exceptions are met. The detectors shall be located in the return duct. Response: The plans have been updated to reflect these requirements. 2. IMC 403/Comm 64.0403(4) (a) 2. Janitor closets that have one service sink or receptor must be provided with mechanical exhaust ventilation as specified in Comm Table 64.0403. Response: Exhaust fan above mop sink has been approved as adequate to eliminate need for enclosed janitor's closet, in lieu of the fact that all cleaning chemicals are stored in the women's restroom (ventilator) in a locked cabinet.
