I am a member of the Veterans Committee for UA W Local 578, and I work at Oshkosh Truck in the defense plant. I am organizing a charity event to benefit Wisconsin Veterans Horne at King. The charity event will be in the form of a motorcycle ride on Sunday, July 22, 2007 beginning at 10:00 AM. If the Council permits, I would like to bring the procession through Oshkosh beginning at the Union Hall at 2920 Oregon Street. We would then go north to Highway 76 continuing on to our first stop, Harley-Davidson of Appleton. On our return, we would be coming back to the Union Hall from the south, so we would only travel through town once. Officer Matt Kroening of the Oshkosh Police Department and I had a discussion about this event. He suggested that I send this letter to the City Council. I have also called Officer Kroening to invite the Oshkosh Police to participate in this event and to ask if it would be possible to have a police escort through town. Enclosed is a flier for the Council to review. Thank you for your time, and I look forward to your response.
