Dear Sir or Madam:
We received a correction notice today stating that our lawn was more than 8 inches in
height. I am writing back to let you know that the lawn was mowed several days ago.
There was no way the grass was 8 inches high, but there were some of those ugly
dandelion puffballs that seem to practically spring up overnight.
I wonder if the caller even meant our house. We are surprised and insulted to have
received a complaint. We usually plant 10 to 12 flats of flowers every year on our
property. This year we even bought 12 tree roses from Jackson and Perk;ins. Before we
moved here, we received the Mayor's Beautification Award from the city of Milwaukee.
We appreciate a beautiful yard and have done our best to continue those efforts - despite
the fact that we are surrounded by fraternities and sororities. '
Is it possible to find out who registered the complaint? I wonder if they meant 521
Algoma, kitty-corner from us. No one is currently living there, and with this heat and
rain, the weeds have grown about 4 feet high. It looks unsightly, but that doesn't bother
me. I think the property is probably for sale. We knew that when we mJved right next to
a university we would need to be tolerant or we'd go nuts! '
It saddens me to think there are people in this area just looking for ways to get the person
down the street in trouble. How can we expect peace in the world if we can't even get
along with our neighbors?
Sincerely,
~7(~~
