My interest has also been in the historic preservation of local properties tied to the stories of those who lived and worked in Oshkosh. Not only am I a member of the Wisconsin Historical Society, Wisconsin Association of Historic Preservation Commissions, National Trust for Historic Preservation, and Monumental Brass Society (UK), I also attend as many of their conferences as possible to continue my education in learning about our historic, built environment. Reason_for_wanting_to serve: As a City Councilor I was privileged to serve on the Landmarks Commission. During that time I worked to landmark the 1st property in Oshkosh, the Italianate James House at 226 High Avenue (Merilyn Smith, owner) and wrote the nomination for the Webster Block at 501 N. Main Street for the State Award for reuse of a historic structure which it won. I also worked on two exhibits at the Oshkosh Library during Gallery Walk: the Frank Lloyd Wright Taliesin I exhibit and Dan Radig's historic paintings of Oshkosh's commercial buildings.
