HomeMy WebLinkAboutStreet Division Proposal 2007 General This double boiler one (1) type melter applicator should be the manufactures current production model. This unit shall be capable of heating and applying without any further equipment modification all grades of asphalt rubber sealants, specification joint sealants, and fiber modified sealants. The machine shall be capable of starting at ambient temperature and bringing the sealant material up to application temperature in one hour or less. All qualified dealers must have and maintain a complete inventory of repair parts as well as having experienced service personnel for this equipment. A video manual outlining the complete operation of the 125-gallon melter applicator shall be available with the unit. A factory-trained representative shall be made available for initial start up and training in the operation of the melter. Heating Tank The material heating tank shall be a minimum of37" diameter by 28" deep having a capacity of 125 gallons at ambient temperature. The tank will have a rear discharge from the pump rear plug outlet. A double boiler type jacket shall create a reservoir that shall hold a minimum 34.8 gallons of heat transfer oil at 70 degrees. The jacket shall wrap around 100 percent and jacket shall be made of not less than 3/16" rolled sheet steel. There shall be a plug to allow the entire heat transfer oil system to be drained. The heat transfer oil shall be ISO grade 68. A sealed expansion tank for heat transfer oil shall be provided to minimize oil oxidation and provide moisture condensation into the heat transfer oil. Heating Tank: Please describe heating tank on your unit: The material heating tank is a minimum of 37" diameter by 28.75" deep having a minimum capacity of 133.75 gallons at ambient temperature. Heating tank complies with above requirements. Insulation: The heating tank shall be insulated with a minimum of 1 Y2 inch thick high temperature ceramic insulation and covered by a 22 gauge steel outer wrapper. Insulation: Describe insulation on your unit: Insulation is a fiberglass rock wool insulation and comp1:ip-s with ahovp- rpql1irpmpnt~ Heating System .. / The heat transfer oil is heated by one 250,000 BTU high efficiency forced air diesel fired burner directly to the bottom of the heat transfer oil tank. The burner shall be lit by a constant duty high voltage transformer powering an electric spark igniter. This works in conjunction with a sensor that detects a lack of burn or ignition and shuts down fuel supply. The thermostat control is located on the curb side for operator safety. The melter applicator shall have a thermostatic control device that will automatically regulate hot oil and material temperature. The control shall have a digital read out for temperature of hot oil and material. The thennostat shall control burner ignition for a temperature range from low degree up to a high of 425 degrees for a variety of sealants. All temperature controls shall be contained in a single weatherproof control box. This unit must be capable of melting 1,000 lbs. per hour. Cold start up to working sealant temperature in less than one hour. Heating System: Describe your heating unit: The heat transfer oil is heated by (1) one 12V 250,000 BTU high efficient burner directly at the bottom of the heat transfer oil tank. Heating system complies with the above requirements. Drive and Drive Controls The motive force to the agitator and material pump shall be hydraulic motor driven by a single pressure compensated hydraulic pump. Hydraulic fluid will only be pumped when needed by agitator or material pump motors. An adjustable hydraulic control valve shall control the rotational speed of the agitator. The drive controls governing the speed of the material pump shall be controlled electronically from the rear of the machine. Both agitator and material pump will have infinite speed control and are electronically activated by a toggle switch on the control panel or a switch on the control wand. The material pump can be reversed as required. The hydraulic system will be equipped with a low micro spin-on filter. Describe Drive and Drive Controls on unit proposed: Single hydraulic pump drives the agitator and material pump. Adjustable hydraulic valves control rotation speed. Drive controls comply with above requirements. Agitation A hydraulically driven full sweep vertical agitator with two opposing horizontal paddles with vertical risers attached to the ends. The agitator rotates in one direction. For additional safety the agitator will shut off automatically when the loading latch is opened. Describe unit proposed: Hydraulically driven full sweep vertical agitator with two spposing horizontal paddles. Agitaton system complies with above requirements. 2 Loading Hatch A low profile opening for loading shall be required at the top of the material tank located on the curb side of the machine for operator safety. The loading height shall not exceed 59 inches for operator convenience. The opening shall have a minimum area of 252 square inches, capable of accepting blocks of material. The lid shall be hinged and have a shelf to put material on to provide easy anti-splash loading. Loading hatch designed for auto loading system. Describe your loading hatch: Contains a ] ow profil~ lid opening mounted on the curb side of the machine. The loadlliug height doe not exceed 59" Loading hatch comples with above requirements. Pumping Unit A hardened steel pump is located in the center of the material tank attached to the bottom of the tank. A switch on the hand wand controls pumping of material and output is controlled hydraulically. The pump and agitator drive shaft stand vertically attached to two motors on the top surface of the tank. One motor rotates an axial tube having radial mixing blades at the chamber bottom. The second motor drives a coaxial shaft running through the tube to the pump. The design allows the material to be pumped directly from the tank without in-line filters. Sealant pumping shall be on demand. No external plumbing or recalculating back into the tank is needed. No internal or external valves shall be used in the pwnping and sealant delivery. The pump shall be capable of delivering sealant at a rate that exceeds the melt rate of the unit. Describe pumping unit proposed: The sealant pump is an on demand internal pump and is hydraulically driven. The pump complies with the above requirements1 Pump Protection The pump shall be completely encircled by a protective screen. The screen shall not allow anything larger than 12" in size to pass from the sealant tank to the pump suction port. The screen shall continuously rotate 360 degrees around the pump whenever the sealant agitator is engaged. Describe pump protection on unit proposed: The material pump contains a completely encircled protective screen. The pump protection screen complies with the above requirements. 3 .t' ~. Sealant Hose and Wand Both the hose and wand are heated by low voltage electric current and temperature regulated. Due to the weight and safety considerations, an oil jackets hose or electric hose requiring voltage above 24 volts AL is unacceptable. The hose shall be specifically manufacture for handling liquid asphalt products up to 500 degrees and rated at 500 PSI working pressure. Hose shall not be shorter than 18 feet. For maximum operator safety it shall be made of stainless steel braid with a %" inside diameter and shall be not greater than 2 114". The total weight shall not exceed 20 lbs. the hose is to be wrapped with a minimum of three electrical wires with terminal ends. The wires will be capable of heating the hose to adjustable from 0-400 degrees and independent from the temperature of the heating oil and the material temperature. The hand wand shall be constructed of steel with sufficient strength to stand up to a normal day to day operation. A trigger or valves between the material pump and the wand. The hose shall be supported by a 6-ft. boom which swivels side to side on dual pillow block bearings. Describe sealant hose and wand on unit proposed: The hose and wand are electrically heated and the hose is 18' long. The hose is controlled with an automatic temperature control. The hose and wand application system complies with the above requirements. Engine 33 HP Diesel Electric start Water cooled Full flow oil Constant speed governor Alternator pre set to handle electric heated wand and hose Gauges will be in a weatherproof box Engine shut down package Describe engine: The engine is a three cyilinder 33 HP water cooled engine and contains an engine shutdown package. The engine complies w~th the above requirements. Fuel Capacity Must operate 12 hours on one tank of fuel. The tank shall have a sight gauge for fuel level indication. Fuel Capacity: 26 Gallons 4 Frame and Running Gear This unit shall be trailer mounted. The tongue shall be equipped with a suitable towing means, the center of which shall be a minimum of 25 inches from the nearest obstruction on the tongue and shall be adjustable in height above the ground level from a minimum of 14 inches to a maximum of 32 inches, permitting practically level towing with a wide range of towing vehicles. The 2 Yz" plntle type towing hitch shall be bolted to the hitch plate for easy height adjustment. This unit shall be equipped with dual axles, rubber torsion type suspension with 7,0001bs.capacity. Electric type brakes on all four wheels shall be provided. 3/8" safety hooks with latches. Allrequired towing lights shall be furnished. A screw post tongue jack shall be furnished. It shall be a heavy-duty type with a load capacity of 5,000 lbs. and be a side mounted for positive road clearance while under tow. Safety chains shall be provided. Frame and running gear: Describe your running gear and frame: The unit is trailer mounted with torsional type suspension, eilectric brakes, safety hooks and safety chains. The unit complies with above requirements. Air Compressor An air compressor shall be mounted in front of the heating tank and behind the engine. Shall operate off the same engine as the rest of the unit. Unit shall be cooled. 1. Shall be hydraulically driven. Complies 2. Shall hav~ a minimum of53.8 CFM@100PSI. Complies 3. Since its pumping system is not submerged in the bottom of the tank, this is a true capacity value. On submerged type systems such as the Crafco SS 125, over 11 gallons are actually displaced by the pumping system (and is capable of only pumping 6 GPM). This makes actual capacity of the SS125 only 114 gallons and worse performing due to it's small GPM rating. To put this all in perspective, we are talking about a realistic capacity difference of less than 1 sealant block. Exception: Hydraulic system Cimline uses a reliable hydraulic manifold system, To regulate the flow of hydraulic fluid to the agitator and the material pump circuits. This allows the operator a straightforward no-hassle approach to operating the equipment. Exception: On-Demand/Submerged Material Pump It should be remembered that, "On-Demand" and "Submerged Pump" are synonymous. For the most accessibility for inspection and maintenance, Cimline places its material pump curbside. The hydraulic-driven motor is outside of the unit body where it is totally accessible and within reach. The material pumping side is within and heated by the heating cabinet at the rear of the machine. The cabinet temperature source is from the super-heated air emerging from the oil heating operation. No hot-oil jacket and accompanying pump are required. The pump is not submerged in the material tank where it can be held captive to a tank of hot material if the pump were to fail. Pumping needs to be sufficient for the purpose but specifying particular methods places one or another vendor at advantage in the competitive process. The machine shall be capable of starting at ambient temperature and bringing the sealant material up to application temperature in one hour or less, All qualified bidders must have and maintain a complete inventory of repair parts and have experienced, factory-trained service personnel for this eqnipment A comprehensive safety manual and an operational/maintenance CD shall be supplied with each unit. A factory-trained person shall be made available for initial start-up and training in the operation of the melter. Pumping of material is controlled by a switch on the hand wand and output is controlled hydraulically, The pump and agitator drive shaft stands vertically attached to two motors on the top surface of the tank, One motor rotates an axial tube having radial mixing blades at the chamber bottom. When pumping stops, all line pressure and sealant flow shall stop, No external plumbing or recirculation back into the tank is acceptable.
