The submittal described above has been placed on HOLD and the review and approval is pending subject receipt of the
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION and lor revised plans the plans will be reviewed for compliance to applicable Wisconsin
Administrative Codes and Wisconsin Statutes.
Please provide information addressing the following issues:
· Plans submittal is required to include a complete list of all chemicals / materials that will be used in the
proposed fume hood. While we have been provided with copies of the MSDS sheets prior to the
plans being submitted, plan documents need to include a listing of all chemicals / materials that
will be used in the proposed fume hood. Plans will be reviewed and code compliance determined
and conditioned on the use of the fume hood being limited to the list of chemicals / materials
submitted in the plan submittal.
· If the fume hood system being installed is not going to be installed to meet the requirements ofIMC
Section 510, provide documentation that the conditions listed in section 510.2 will not exist in the
absence of the proposed exhaust system. Provide plans / specifications thill comply with all of the
requirements of Section 510 or provide documentation that shows the conditions listed in Section
510.2 will not exist in the absence of the exhaust system.
· Make-up air shall be provided at a rate approximately equal to the rate that air is exhausted. Provide
additional details / information on how make-up air will be provided Based on the information
provided to date it would appear that 1160 cfm of make-up air is required.

· Fans shall be selected to meet requirements for fire, explosion, and corrosion. Provide information
detailing how this has been complied with.
· Air exhausted from laboratory hoods and special exhaust systems shall be discharged above the roof.
Provide additional details, drawings showing where the exhaust duct will be discharged, as well as
how the ductwork enclosure will be constructed, including access panel size and locations.
· Comm 10, Flammable and combustible Liquids, adopts NFP A 45 - Standard on Fire Protection for
Laboratories Using Chemicals. This standard includes a section covering Laboratory Ventilating
Systems and Hood Requirements, that applies to this installation. Provide plans/ specifications that
show compliance with NFP A 45 requirements.
The check that was included with this submittal, check number 35280 for $230.00, is being returned,
as this is a City project, and permit fees, and review fees are waived for City owned projects.
If you have any questions after reading the above comments, please call me at the telephone number below. If the above
requested information and/or plans are not received within 30 business days of the date of this correspondence, this submittal
will be returned denied. No fees will be refunded, and a new fee, application for, and submittal of plans / specifications will
be required should you desire to continue with this project. The code in effect at the time of new submittal would apply.
