To schedule inspections please call the Inspection Request line at 236-5128 noting the Address, Permit Number, Type of
Inspection (i.e. Footing, Service, Final, etc.), Access into Building if Secure (how do we gain entry), your Name and Phone
Number. Unless specified otherwise, we will assume the project is ready at the time the request is received. Work may
continue if the inspection is not performed within two business days from the time the project is ready.
SCOPE OF WORK - REPLACEMENT ROOF SECTIONS:
Merrill Middle School
Replacement Roof Sections:
Roof#21
1.
Tear-off existing multi ply roof systems, insulation, flashings and sheet metal down to the wood deck. Ensure deck surfuce
is clean and free of debris. .
Inspect decking for any defects. Replace defective decking in kind. (submit a sq. foot price for like decking)
Install wood blocking and cants as specified around all units and at the perimeters (Per FM 190)
Rework existing drains. Mount drains on deck and create 4' x 4' sump using fuctory-tapered insulation.
Raise all units 8" above the finished roof surmce.
Install new treated wood curbslblocking around and rooftop units and perimeters.
Tack apply red rosin paper to the wood deck. Nail a 28lb Glass Ply (per spec) using appropriate fusteners-l-fustener every
Isq. ft. The 28lb Glass Ply (per spec) must overlap each ply by a minimum of6" (Prior to installing any insulation in hot .
Asphalt over the base ply be sure all seams are secure and there is no way for asphalt to enter the interior of the building
Any damage to the interior of the building will be the contractor's responsibility) .
Adhere 2" Polyisocyanurate Insulation in Type 4 Asphalt at 25lbs per sq. over the 281b Glass Ply. Per Spec.
Install fuctory-tapered crickets/saddles (polyisocyanurate insulation) between drains, to drains, comer~ and on the high side
of units. The crickets and saddles will be at least twice the height of the tapered insulation. NO PONDING WATER
ALLOWED.INSURE THAT THE CRICKETS YOU INSTALL ARE SUFFICIENT TO DIVERT THE WATER TO THE
DRAINS.
Install top layer ofYt" High Density Woodfiber Board Insulation-Six Sided Asphalt Coated (4'x 4' Boards) set in Type (4)
Four Asphalt at the rate of#25 Ibs per square - as specified.
Replace all defective roof drains with new cast iron drains.
Install new two (3) ply (high strength, polyester/fiberglass/polyester trilaminate reinforced asphalt coated ply sheets) in
cold processed application built-up roof system using (using an asbestos free, cold process, fibrated asphalt adhesive for
built up roof systems) at the rate of2.5 gallsq/ply. Along end laps, increase coverage to 2-Y:z to 3 gal/sq.
All new flashings shall be (a elastomeric membrane made ofEPDM and SBR elastomers reinforced with a polyester
woven scrim). Set this elastomeric membrane in a (asbestos free, elastomeric adhesive) at 1 ga1l20 sq.ft. apply to both
surfuces.
Flashings should extend 6" onto roof from base cant; overlap vertical end laps a minimum of 4".
p. Apply (elastomeric adhesive-per specifications) in a uniform continuous coverage and leave exposed for 15
minutes minimum (dependent upon weather).
q. Adhere (EPDM-SBR Elastomeric Reinforced Sheet in Elastomeric Adhesive) apply consistent pressure for a
uniform adhesion and fully conforming to all angle changes without voids.
r. Secure top edge of sheeting by using the existing reglet joint and install a turn bar in Butyl Tape and counter
flashing secured 8" O.C. caulk top ofCounterflashing (using a one-part, low modulus, moisture curing,
modified polyurethane sealant).
s. Strip in base flashing and vertical flashing laps using a three-course application of re-enforced fiberglass mesh
(elastorneric adhesive-per specifications) and followed by (a single-component, weather resistant, asbestos free
durable roof elastomeric, suitable for use over both asphalt and tar roof membranes).
t. Coat flashings with (a reflective, asbestos free, aluminum coating for built-up roofs and flashings) two coat
Application at I-gal per 130 sq.ft..
All new metal shall match existing with a kynar finish 24 Gauge. Per Specifications
All electrical disconnect and re-connectshalI be by the Oshkosh School District.
Prior to application ofsurfuce treatment system, Contractor shall inspect the roofwith the Owner, Full-Time Jobsite
Inspector and Roofing Foreman.
Over entire roof surmce spray apply a uniform and continuous flood coat of solvent-free, cold process adh~sive.
Coverage rate: Five (5) gallons per one-hundred (100) sq.ft.
Immediately broadcast a minimum of400 Ibs /100 sq. ft. of new, clean roofing gravel per one hundred (100) sq. ft.
Provide additional aggregate surfucing to provide a neat, uniform appearance and to cover all flood coat material
completely.
