HomeMy WebLinkAbout06-226 JULY 11, 2006 06-226 RESOLUTION (CARRIED___7-0___LOST________LAID OVER________WITHDRAWN________) PURPOSE:APPROVE AMENDED AGREEMENT WITH AT&T / ANCHORAGE BASIN PROJECT INITIATED BY:DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS WHEREAS, by Resolution 05-292 adopted September 27, 2005, the common council previously approved a contract with AT&T for relocation of fiber optic cable required for the Anchorage Basin Storm Water Improvements project; and WHEREAS, the Canadian National Railroad has determined that other construction methods are required to preserve and protect its right-of-way, thereby requiring an amended agreement with AT&T; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of Oshkosh that the proper City officials are authorized and directed to enter into an appropriate agreement that comports with the attached provisions and are further directed to take those steps necessary to implement the terms and conditions of the Agreement Money for this purpose is appropriate from: Acct. No. 561-2010-1799-0000 – Storm Water Utility – Construction in Progress June 29, 2006 Scope of Work Appleton - Watertown Jet FT "A" Cable City of Oshkosh Culvert Installation under CN Railroad The Location: This project is located along the CN Railroad in the city of Oshkosh, WI The Work: This work involves the installation of a new route approximately 3300 feet of length from an existing splice location at Murdock road to a proposed splice location. Installation of new fiber cable and completing a sheath opening splice. Contractor will be responsible to assist the AT&T splicers during the cut over and installation and removal of a splice shack with needed shoring. THE WORK WILL CONSIST OF THE FOLLOWING: 1. Directional boring and installing 350 feet of 4" SDR 11 HDPE duct with two 1.25" ducts under the tracks, one road crossing and proposed culvert installation area. 2. Directional bore and plow two 1.25" ducts the remainder of the route from the splice point to the proposed splice location. 3. Installation of3700 feet of new fiber cable. 4. At the proposed splice location expose 50 feet of cable, remove the duct from the cable and construct a splice shack for the cut over. 5. After the cut over remove the splice shack and coil the new splice up and install a handhole of the new splice. 6. Install AT&T cable warning tape, backfill and mechanically compact all excavated areas. 7. Clean up all disturbed areas along the route as good as or better condition. NOTE: Extreme caution will be used when working around the existing AT&T fiber cable and no work will be done in the existing AT&T right-of-way with out a AT&T technician on site. NOTE: All work will be completed as per the AT&T Specifications for Outside Plant Construction and Maintenance. 2 June 29, 2006 Cost Estimate Appleton - Watertown Jet FT "A" Cable City of Oshkosh Culvert Installation under CN Railroad Engineering - Consultant: 1.
