IMC 306.5 Equipment and appliances on roofs or elevated structures. Where equipment and
appliances requiring access are installed on roofs or elevated structures at a height exceeding 16 feet (4877
nun), such access shall be provided by a pennanent approved means of access, the extent of which shall be
from grade or floor level to the equipment and appliances' level service space. Such access shall not
require climbing over obstructions greater than 30 inches (762 nun) high or walking on roofs having a
slope greater than 4 units vertical in 12 units horizontal (33-percent s]ope). VerifY that permanent fIXed
ladder has been installed to access roof-sheet A-i.] 0 original State appoved building plans indicates
a roof hatch will be installed in the rear of the South tenant space.
IMC 401.5.1 Mechanica] and gravity outside air intake openings shall be located a minimum of]O feet
from any hazardous or noxious contaminant such as vents, chimneys, plumbing vents, streets, alleys,
parking lots and loading docks.

SUDING SNOW
The load caused by snow sliding off a sloped roof onto
a lower roof shall be determined for slippery upper roofs
with slopes greater than 1 ou 12, and for other (i.e~ non-
slippery) upper roofs with slopes greater than 2 on 11. The
total sliding load per unir length of eave sball be OAp!

shall be reduced by the difference between these fW<> vl\lues
with a maximum reduction of 5 Iblft2 (0.24 kNhn2).
