SMITH, OWNER LANDMARKS COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: Approved PLAN COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: Approved A GENERAL ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF OSHKOSH DESIGNATING PROPERTY AS A LANDMARK WHEREAS, the City of Oshkosh Historic Preservation Ordinance was created, in part, to protect, enhance and perpetuate historic landmarks and safeguard the City's historic and cultural heritage; and WHEREAS, the Historic Preservation Ordinance authorizes the City of Oshkosh Landmarks Commission and the Plan Commission to recommend landmark designation of properties meeting Ordinance requirements for such designation; and WHEREAS, the Landmarks Commission and Plan Commission recommend that "The James House", a single family two story brick Italianate residence at 226 High Avenue be designated as a landmark. NOW, THEREFORE, the Common Council of the City of Oshkosh do ordain as follows: SECTION 1. The property located at 226 High Avenue, described below, is of historic value to the City of Oshkosh and is hereby designated a landmark. The SE 10 ft. of the SW 120 ft. of Lot 17 and all of Lot 16, Block 16, WW Wrights Third Addition, 1 st Ward, City of Oshkosh, Winnebago County, Wisconsin. (tax #901-0129-0000) SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall record a certified copy of this Ordinance in the Office of the Register of Deeds for Winnebago County. SECTION 3. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and publication.
